Could Sticking With Moyes Save Us?

Before everyone starts I'm not suggesting he's working miracles. But I'm going to argue it may be worth sticking to our guns.

It's well known in football that sticking with a manager generally gets better results. Crystal Palace recently changed their manager and results have actually got worse - with a supposed 'relegation specialist'. Leicester have just done the same and who's to say it will improve them? They could start doing even worse for all we know.

And before everyone jumps in with 'it needs to be the right manager' I read a stat on here today that since we lost in the FA Cup to Everton under O'Neil we have won 40 of 185 league games!!! This surely shows that even if you don't like him or are unsure, it is unfair to pin the blame on Moyes - because frankly we're not really doing anything different to what we normally do - regardless of the result tomorrow.
there are some very good reasons to sack him , but equally very good reasons to keep him on .

Ellis is rolling the dice AGAIN

Look at the league, 3rd bottom has 20 points, 4th bottom has 21. There's 13 games left, it's unlikely that 37 points will be required, usually a team is cut adrift by now, it seems a lot tighter this year.

We were close to points against City, Spurs (away), Liverpool, Chelsea. How can you just write off games? You should probably have followed the club for the last 4 years and you'd have learnt your lesson.

All the club's above us have changed manager and Hull and Swansea have seen a bounce.....Palace haven't so far and we have yet to find out with Leicester. And I have followed the club for the last four years....sacking the incumbent manager was the reason we stayed up those seasons. The performances this season and especially the last game are among the worst I've seen for a very long time and bar sacking Moyes and getting a bounce I just can't us getting the required number of points.

It's probably the first time we actually stick with a manager going into the last quarter of the season. Thus proving that sticking with managers yield better results as incorrect. We have changed and we are still a PL side etc.

We are only sticking with him as we can not afford his compensation IMO. He has shown nothing to suggest he is likely to keep us up.

I see what you're saying but you can also say Swansea and Hull have changed managers and have massively improved.

The players have got so used to taking the piss for most of the season and turning up at the end that there's probably no need to change manager, they'll do it out of habit

I get the impression that Moyes and Bain have a good working relationship. The finances are a huge problem but they seem to be fairly solid as a pair despite this.

Who knows, Moyes could be sacrificed, but I'd be surprised if Bain didn't give him some time. Personally I'd rather Moyes was here at the start of next season because he at least will know the strengths and weaknesses of the players he would have at his disposal.

Sadden me posts like that.

Probably right like.

Ie as Moyes has accepted were likely to drop (he did this very early imo) he hasnt fought for any cash to prevent it and will take his wage whatever for a few year.
Like Benitez I hope hes not lauded for winning promotion as plenty of second rate managers acheive that.
Hes been the polar opposite to what I expected ie a motivated well drilled disciplinarian to the old bloke kipping in the dugout v Southampton.

Genuine question to all.

Of the managers we've sacked around this stage and Moyes, who would you prefer to lead us into the last third?

Its a tough one. He instills no more confidence than Gus,Mon etc despite his sad lapdogs on here.

Fully agree. I have been significantly disappointed in Moyes performance.
