I was going to recommend that. It's one of the best books I've ever read - and, as 87 said, he was from up here.Agent Zigzag by Ben Macintyre. An incredible true WWII story, in which the protagonist is actually from the Northeast of England.

You read the full series?.. Stephen King 'Dark Tower' Series. The first one 'The Gun Slinger" is the only book that has ever had me gripped by the second page .. Also 'The Black Company' series by Glen Cook ..

Very clever bloke, I did a presentation on him after a media course Highlighting how his earlier novels were based on Classic stories, Salems Lot Dracula, Silver Bullet Werewolves, , and a tenuous link into Pet Semetary and Frankenstein, life from death. Nowt special, about 100 years ago learning how to do presentationsClever stuff

I’m using the term “better an empty house than an unruly tenant “ alreadyI thought it was more of a self help book for him.
A good read, funny at times and definitely relatable coming from the North East and a similar age.
The game of shit on a stick made me laugh out loud.
I still think Ozzy is the best biography Ive ever read.
