Corruption or incompetence?

Not playing the advantage was wrong for two reasons. Firstly, Altidore could well have brushed Sagna off and gone on to score (which he did). The other thing was that it could very easily have carried on into the penalty area. I have a feeling that he was terrified of giving another penalty and so blew up before he had to make that decision - in other words he bottled it. IMO I'm not convinced that he would have given a red card if Altidore had gone down under the challenge, but he should have shown the red card, mainly because the ball went into the net - in a way it would have softened the blow.
The more I watch it, the more I think this is what happened.

If it was the other way around, Wenger and Arsenal would have still been complaining this morning. The arse lickers at Sky would be banging on about it for days.

As it stands, everyone predicted us to get beat, we are poor little Sunderland with a crackpot manager. We are expected to just ignore decisions like this.

I'm banging on about it constantly but the goal could be put down to the ref making a genuine mistake and blowing the whistle too early. However, allowing Arsenal to use up 2 and a half minutes of 4 minutes stoppage time getting a player off the pitch and then not adding those 2 and a half minutes on smacks of corruption to me

Doesn't explain why Sagna wasn't sent off.

You basically saying every referee past and present is on the payroll to keep his mouth shut with regards to favoring big teams. Whp pays them by the way, the FA or the PL

There's obviously something whoever pays them does not want airing, otherwise their payoffs wouldn't depend upon their silence.

The question needs to be asked imho - why do they need to be kept quiet about their careers?

Then it's still a nailed-on red card. He had plenty of time to think about it and talk to his linesman. He either bottled it, or blatantly cheated so he wasn't giving two decisions against the mighty Arsenal.

It's a waste of time even playing against the big boys to be honest. In a few weeks we'll have John Terry refereeing the game from the first minute, Rooney arguing every decision and Man City players throwing themselves around.

Already, this season, Terry has gotten away with the most blatant handball you'll ever see, Tottenham have been given one for far less and Man Utd given a penalty and the lad beig sent-off yesterday, after the ref asked his linesman, who clearly said he didn't know. How can the ref then make that decision? It stinks man.

By committing the foul a goal scoring chance was denied. Fact. The ball went in. So how has the arsenal player remained on the pitch?

Wrong

Sagna's foul failed to prevent the goal scoring opportunity. Sagna was brushed aside and a goal WAS scored.

It was Atkinson, all on his own, who prevented the goal scoring opportunity by blowing his whistle.

Says it all.

If it had happened at the other end it would of been given
I can't agree with that. The referee had clearly blown his whistle. However, the ball clearly went in so it was a clear goalscoring opportunity. Hence, the defender should have been red carded.
