Connor Wickham

what if you're slow naturally? ;)
He's a big lad and hasn't got that explosive pace of some. A couple of times he made a bit of space for himself and it's all about creating space and therefore time. IMO I would rather go with Wickham and Borini in future.

This generation's Bob Lee.
Unfortunately, we're now in a position where our PL survival depends on him, through no fault of his own.
God help us all.

Whickham should work harder... Talent is there, I'd like to give him a shake and remind him what he does for a living & how lucky he is..
Talent is there? Even Ji has more talent and that says it all.

Well it didn't did it , look where altidore was when oshea flicked that ball on , not even in the six yard box.
It was an out swinging free kick man, why the hell would we have players in the 6 yard box? If it was in-swinging as it would have been if we had a right footer on the free kick we'd have lined up nearer the six yard box. Come on man this is basic, stop looking for reasons to criticise that aren't there.[DOUBLEPOST=1395894757][/DOUBLEPOST]I wish people would stop wanting our strikers to just chance loose balls around. Poyet has tactics, he wants our strikers to help keep the shape, which he was very impressed with tonight. I'm not sure why people are looking for criticisms after this game, the only two that can be are Giacc, who offered nothing and Vergini, who offered Liverpool a bit too much.

Like someone mentioned earlier, he looks to be a lot closer to score a goal than Altidore or Fletcher. I would give him as much first team chances as Altidore had.

Should not have been taken off altidore got into a couple of positions when we started to attack where he would not shoot Wickham would have taken a couple of shots for sure. You could hear with the reaction of our fans when he was taken off what people thought. Offers far more of a threat than jozy hope he starts against west ham.

It took whickam 30mins to get in the game which is understandable , look at how long it is taking scocco to get to the speed of the PL and he has had more chances than connor , but he offers more hope than jozy who has had enough chances without doing it.

Always looks and seems static, with no sense of urgency or movement.
Granted, he tries at holding up but offers little in the way of being a threat.

Well that was a good idea putting him in. Didn't actually improve our chances one iota. Was totally non-existent. Sooner we get shot of him the better.

Poyet said in his post match interview he'll play Whickham against West Ham. I think the choice of either him or Altidore is the only decision he has to make. The other ten surely pick themselves.
Manone
Bardsley
Brown
O 'Shea
Alonso
Bridcutt
Cattermole
Ki
Johnson
Borini
Whickham / Altidore

Spot on.

The worrying thing is that his faults are pretty fundamental. He's shockingly flat-footed and seems to take an age to get the ball under control.

Some use the excuse that his lack of movement is because he's a big lad, but look at Giroud for example. He's similarly built like a brick shit house, just the right side of clumsy even, but never stops running or working the centre backs.

On the evidence of last night, our lad is still a million miles away from being a premier league striker.

Huge opportunity missed last night. Liverpool's forwards had a rare off night and their defence is woeful.

Even with just 1 half decent striker there was at least a point to be had.

madness but the selection tonight was mental, the subs were mental, getting more worried that poyet has lost the plot or chucked in the towel for this year.
Were you watching a different game, his tactics were spot on, if we had had got to half time 0-0 there fans would have got restless, 1 great freekick and a deflected goal is all that beat us, his substitutions were spot on they changed the game
