He is a thoroughly average (and im being kind) player who wouldn't get a start for any other Premier League club.

Yes he's strong, yes he can hold it up, but he looks the square root of f***ing awful in terms of actually putting the ball in the net.

Sorry, but he just isn't up to it and I see nothing in him to suggest he ever will at this level.

I just got done watching a Callum McManaman Athletic vs Jamie Mackie Rangers match.

Ever? He is a young lad ffs, people wanted noble to play when he was 21 despite doing nowt.

He's 19. He occupied two of the best international defenders in the league (one of whom they signed for nigh on £30m if you want to use transfer fee as a barometer of how good a player should be) on his own for a decent amount of the game. He's definitely not shite!!

This is a fair point Chelsea are a quality team ....I thought he did reasonably well today..... He needs matches playing in a new team with new ideas and I for one hope he settles into that role and proves he is a good striker and one for the long term

Red and white blinkers off...

I dont think it was a deliberate elbow. It was never anything but an accident. Right decision.

Connor will come good playing next to a quick goalscorer. That's the problem. He is more of a link man because his hold up play is superb. He has 2 good feet too.

Agreed

We still didn't create much and what we dd came from his build up play, he can't build up the play, play people in and then finish the chances.

This.

there are times when i cant stand so called sunderland supporters

his hold-up play is brilliant. Makes a massive difference when you can rely on your forward to give the rest of the team a chance to join in an attack. With Graham, we're straight on the back foot again.

Agreed, it was obvious about two seasons ago

Better than Graham imo. Pity O'Neill didn't see it that way.

oi have criticised him in the past but i 'm admitting i was wrong he was a handful today for two world class defenders despite getting nil service from the flanks .
For those who say he offers no goal threat . If sess had squared the ball he had a tap in in the 1st five minutes man!

one of the big plusses from that game for me , judge him against stoke , southampton not his first 90mins against the european champions.

Superb in comparison to the lack lustre performances of recent weeks IMO.

I thought he looked really strong in the air, on the ground, the work rate was great and he was defending from the front.
Some of the flicks and link up play was outstanding, could see his confidence building through the game.

I'll allow him the scuffed shot (the chance he made for himself early on) as he's only 19 and hasn't been allowed enough chances. He still really impressed me today and gave me some more optimism as to where the goals will come from to get us these points.

Also, that elbow from david luiz was ridiculous, you could see him, one eye over his shoulder ready to swing. SCUM.

Maybe his performance improved cause he played longer than 10mins ;)

He had a good game if only the wide players could get some quality balls into the box for him!

He's always impressed when played, it was a dereliction of duty by the abysmal O'Neill in largely ignoring him.
