so no difference, also Wickham played on the wings aswell.

Also, Bendtner will have had the chance to learn from and train with Theirry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp. Wickham had the chance to learn from Jason Scotland and Tamás Priskin.

Food for thought.

I seem to remember that all of those 9 goals last season came after January.

How many of the 37 games were starts. I know keane didnt start him thatm uch in his last season I seem to recall.

And he was playing as a winger under Keane which is clearly not his game.

People seem to want him to fail. We have actually barely seen him

his goal against West Brom was great and him and bendtner were working together really well until he got injured in the Man Utd game.

He's been in and out since then- i remember there was something that came out about him succeptible to niggling injuries atm because of growing pains.
I think Bruce made the right choice signing him however, we should have let him go for a month or so. or even tried to shave a little off the fee by letting him go on loan to ipswich for another year, with a promise he'd get first team action.

18/19 is very young still. lets look at the type of player we want him to be emulating. Players like Dzeko who was barely even playing for his home town club in bosnia at his age. What was Carroll doing when he was 18/19- he was just about making the substitutes bench for newcastle and then on loan at Preston. yeah hes had a shit year but he scored 11 goals in half a season before that.

wickham will come good- probably next season imo if not the season after when he'll be ancient at 20/21.

we paid a lot of money but it was a long term investment.

He needs to get some game time for the next few games then MO'N will want to have a look at him and Ji in the summer.

Neither of them will be going anywhere except on loan. He doesnt like selling his young players- except Gardner who was asking to leave

He's shit. We just need to face facts that we spunked big money on a player who is barely Championship quality. We'd still get around 3 million for him so we either let him rot in the reserves or else we cut our losses n try and invest wisely this time.

The profit we make on Sess should offset the losses though so at least that's something.

Disgraceful the way people have wrote him off and branded him shit. The same people were probably crying out for Noble to play a few months back, despite never starting a game and being 2 year older than wickham. He will come good, in his 5 or so starts he has shown more than enough? Yet again our fans had wrote him off after he had made 1 substitute appearance against Newcastle if you remember, for a whole 10 minutes! He will be another one who's transfer few will be constantly referred to and used to slag him off.

Show me another 18, just turned 19 year old who is performing well in the PL, week in week out.

Federico macheda looked better at the age of 18

:lol: Thats what your basing your argument for wickham on, we've bought a dud IMO

I have said I was impressed when I see him star games. Macheda made some appearances and went off the radar, had a shit loan spell at sampdoria and he's now at QPR. I haven't seem much of him since he was at sampdoria tbh, but he must be relatively young still.

As I said though, it's rare that somebody wickhams age will play regularly in the PL. They are normally nowhere near ready, we won't know if we've bought a dud until after next season probably.

redknapp would snap our hands off if we offered him for 3 million.

he's been injured

That Macheda point backs up my argument anyway, even though he clearly had talent he wasn't exactly playing regular games at this level was he? Which is what i said was common in young players like them.

for a start Macheda is only 20 himself and is injured atm

the situation is entirely different

he scored 2 important goals when he was younger so the media hyped him up- did well in the reserves for Man Utd but never proved himself as a consistent striker in competitive football. went on loan to Sampdoria and failed to impress.

wickham came to us as an experienced striker who scored 9 goals in the championship last season. That's 9 goals from the 22nd of january to the end of the season.
Keane left and he started being played as a striker which accounts for this form

A lot of people are rating him on his price tag, though mate.

I've said 7 or 8 times now that I'm not convinced, but he needs the next two seasons. I can't see how anyone can deviate from that stance, tbh.

You've got me there. He's got about as much experience as a Jonas brother.

What a load of shite.

He'll come good,a three month loan to a Championship side from the start of next season will sort him out imo.

He's played over 60 games in the championship.

I'm sure another dozen or so wouldn't do him any harm, but don't see that it will massively change anything either.

He needs regular games, up front, something he's never really had. He needs the confidence from them and hopefully doing well in any division, allied to having made a step up this season in terms of adapting (slowly) to a different style and pace of football along with training regularly with a better quality of footballer.

10+ regular games in the Championship should do him more good than bits of games here over a longer period.

Going back to the Championship is a nonsense. If we loan him out, and I don't think we will, it should be a lower level prem club.

He needs to get experience of the Prem; it's no use playing against bloody Derby or Barnsley. No-one learns owt from that.

I think you're over estimating the amount he's played up front in the Championship and the impact he had tbh. It's something he desperatly needs to attain.

Loaning him to the Premiership is f***ing pointless, because all it would guarantee is maybe some money to cover his wages. He wouldn't get regular games in any Premiership side at the moment and he'd maybe struggle in a promoted side anyway, how does that help his progress right now? How would that help us if he's there for a season in a struggling side, maybe not even getting games?

The idea behind loaning him to the Championship is a short term (something you cannot do in the Premiership) to help our asset progress through a bit of experience as a regular striker up front, something he hasn't done often enough. It would also be done to aid his confidence, with the idea he comes back here mid season in form.
