Watmore is only a year younger than Wickham ffs. Compare what the two have achieved in their careers so far. I like Watmore and he deserves a place in the squad but he's nowhere near Wickham.
He's never even had a good game when the game hasn't been completely dead. When it hasn't been and he's appeared he's looked well out of his depth...

You are using goals per games ratio for watmore after 1 start? Wow.

Wickham will have a far better career, bookmark it. He's looked awful whenever the game hasn't been dead and buried...

All I can judge Watmore on is representing England (good standard) and for us this season. Isn't this the same as you're judging him on?

Wickham will end up in the Championship, he's no better than the plodder who Palace sold to Bournemouth

Watmore could end up anywhere. His education was a priority so he's only been full time this season. He's raw, fast and scores goals. 2 of those atrributes are highly sort after in football.

Fair enough, I just don't agree. He never gets the ball truly under control and constantly runs it out of play. I think he is far too raw. He should be an impact sub this season and take it from there.

I'm not going to get excited about him coming on when 3-0 and 6-2 down and looking half decent. It really doesn't mean anything when the game is dead. Time for him to do it when it matters. I really hope he does.

They're completely different players. Wickham at 18 was a boy in a man's body. Watmore is still a boy now.

Totally agree he's only an impact sub at present. But with his pace, energy, eye for goal and brain he's a great asset to have.

I whinged all match against Soton that he should have been switched to the right as he struggled badly on the left. Of course a few days later he's involved in the 3 goals for England all on the left :)

Best thing about watmore for me is his runs/movement. But his touch seemingly negates that as its so poor.

His first touch is fine, it's his close control that's a bit suspect. However, Ian Rush made a brilliant career out of similar attributes. He would suck defenders in but he was quick and would poke it past them as they were fully commited thinking he'd lost control.

Has a point though. Similar situation with Defoe now. Not sure why we persist in playing people out of the position where they're most effective

He's expecting Sunderland fans to boo him??

How thick is he? The only players I've ever seen us boo are Bent and Colback. Every other ex player always gets a decent round of applause - even my Liverpool supporting mate was surprised how well we treat our former players.
