This is the main problem, because e looked like a wanker he was judged differently. It happens constantly.

He's barely progressed since he was 18. Sorry but if he was as dedicated as some other players he'd have improved a lot. Maybe he's not bright enough to realise what a handful he could be if he improved his touch and used his body better.

How do you know about his dedication

I don't but some players completely reinvent themselves to find a way to get or stay at the top. An example of this is She-rah, lost his pace due to bad injuries and became more of a target man.

Wickham for whatever reason has made painfully slow progress. I can only put it down to him being either soft, thick or not arsed.

He played left for Ipswich as well

Daft people judging him party on his looks

He's came out and said he's a striker. The only decent run of games he had as a striker he scored goals and kept us up. For some reason we decided to put him on the wing to accommodate Fletcher who scored 3 goals the previous season

Because we signed an appalling left back who needed babysitting.

Pathetic

Fletcher is a better striker than Wickham could even dream of being right now. I'm waiting for the evidence that Wickham can actually be a top flight striker. Say what you like about Fletcher, he's three times hit the 10 goal mark for a premier league side, I'd bet Wickham will never do that in the future. I just don't see him scoring enough goals.

He played games upfront for us before and after his purple patch and looked poor. He didn't exactly pull up any trees in most of his loans in the Championship either.

He looked like a real prospect at 18 hence we paid £8M. Palace have paid £9M for a player who still isn't a proven striker in this league. Amazed and over the moon we got our money back. Without that purple patch we wouldn't have got half of it back.

That and the fact we didn't decide to sign a proper left forward/winger after Borini said he didn't want to come. We waited all summer then on the final day decided to sign Ricky Alvarez who didn't fit into the side at all

Wickham outscored Fletcher last two seasons like. Wickham will score goals in that Palace team

He's still only 22 years old. We should play him in his best position and try and develop him. Even when Fletcher didn't play we put Graham up front ffs. He'll do well at Palace

Care to list Connor's strengths?

I can't think of anything he's particularly good at!

Edit: Still thinking or gone to bed?

OK I'll sum him up:

Pace - Average
Heading ability - Fair
First touch - Half decent
Shooting - OK
Dribbling - Poor
Strength on the ball - Fair
Work rate - Decent
Passing - Average
Decision making - Poor
Goals per game ratio - Poor

Not exactly a glowing endorsement but hard to argue with.

An OK all rounder really.

Let's take Whatmore as a comparision as some have compared the 2.

Pace - Excellent
Dribbling - Good
Work rate - Good
Goals per game ratio - Good

Obviously it's early days and for example he looks poor in the air but that's a lot to work with IMO and of course he can work on his weaknesses too.

Shouldnt have sold him, he'll become a very good player.

I always said he had the potential to be as good as Dean Ashton who prior to his career ending injury had 2 good top flight seasons after being a very promising kid at Crewe.

Thus far he's proved me wrong. Quite happy for him to continue along those lines now he's left.

You are using goals per games ratio for watmore after 1 start? Wow.

Wickham will have a far better career, bookmark it. He's looked awful whenever the game hasn't been dead and buried...

a forward who couldn't score. for us and now Palace (and actually for Ipswich too). It's like a shelf stacker at Asda saying his management is much better than Tesco yet he's still dropping cans all over the floor. he may score on Monday, but he won't score more than 6 this season.

Watmore is only a year younger than Wickham ffs. Compare what the two have achieved in their careers so far. I like Watmore and he deserves a place in the squad but he's nowhere near Wickham.
