As they say, form is temporary, class is permanent. Murray left us with class. Even if the form was at a low ebb when he left, it was easily fixed.

Don't know what the view was like from Oz marra, but I don't think the last few years have been "easy". Seeing the likes of Chris Baird and Dave Nugent turn us down. Couple of relegation scraps etc. Granted we have come through them, but for me that is largely down the the investment of Quinny's mates than the ground-work that Murray did. Like I say, all the evidence is subjective.

 How pleasant. What do you imagine Roker Park would look like now if we had stayed?

Roker Park was a milestone around the club's neck that would have dragged us down into the toilet if we hadn't freed ourselves of it. Sad but true.

Aye, Fratton Park springs to mind. Not for a second comparing the 2 football clubs mind.

I'm not saying that establishing a safe PL club is easy - if it was, everyone would be doing it. I'm just saying that the low ebb in "form" at the time of RSM's departure was fixed in a season - by Drumaville, who only came along (and wanted to be involved) because of what RSM did and had already done.

That's not subjective, it's a matter of record.

Probably twice as high as SJP!

Not high mate, deep. Apparantly we could dig underground to fit the extra seats in. We would probably suffer from the bends in the meantime like but hey ho. ;)

The result is a matter of record. The cause is a matter for debate.

During his tenure at Sunderland how much was Sir Bob actually worth money wise?

Anybody any idea, the game in his time certainaly changed for a millionaire games to a 100's of millionaires game if not Billionaires game

Most of the time the only thing Murray was guilty of was not being rich enough

30-40m? I may have made that up by the way.

Waffle. I'm specifically referring to the documented reasons that Drumaville, Keane and Short have all given for signing up (along with many of the players in that period too) including the club's infrastructure - an already expanded stadium, training facilities, etc, etc. All RSM stuff. Therefore it is not simply my opinion, as you stated, that it was RSM who made possible the rapid rise we've had since he left.

Quinn might be holding the reigns, but RSM raised the horse.

He built a stadium using European grants to pay for it and walked away at the end of the day with millions FFS.
In the meantime the club was almost forced into administration, 2 record low relegations and he left us with the squad we all take the piss out of on an almost daily basis.

wrong, he made no profit out of his time in charge. Try and prove otherwise if you wanna waste a few hours, am not doin out.

Congratulations Sir Bob, well done.

His heart was in the right place, he loved the club and still does. Not everything went to plan, he made mistakes but he laid the foundations for the bricks and motar that is now being erected and we should be thankful for that.

I met him once - it was the 15 point season against Blackburn Rovers which we lost 0-1 and there were protests outside the SOL. My son was mascot that day and we met Murray in the boardroom - he was amazing that day, was superb with my son and I will never ever forget how he was with all of us. It was a really bad time but I can not fault the man at all.

Well done Bob, we all wanted the same thing - we all still do.
