Congerton told to stay on

I've no idea either - really important that there is someone able to aid transition to the new manager.
if what he has done hasn't worked and he has left or leaving why would he do a great job now?

I don't see why it's ridiculous this type of thing happens all the time.

Can you offer any examples of a multi-million pound business putting their most important recruitment task in the hands of someone who has already tendered their resignation?

I'll be amazed if you can.

Told to stay on when his role will dissuade many from applying

This cannot be true shirley

Surely as a PL club it can't be hard to find a 'football person'willing to give advice on the next steps. It does seem odd leaving things in the hands of Congerton if he's already got his notice handed in

The last time we did it Bob Murray rang Howard for advice and got sold a pup.....

Congerton is just another hate figure for the usual thickos on here.

It's hilarious. Had we told him to leave without working notice or helping choose Advocaat's successor they'd be on here moaning about how Short got rid of the only footballing person at the club and all the rest of it.

Having people work their notice in senior positions is bog standard practice at businesses.

Unfortunately he's just about the only 'football' person at board level so we actually need his input into the new boss. Otherwise big Ellis will be choosing alone.

Surely a long standing Chief Executive Officer of a Premier League Club would have some idea about football
