Confession time, really looking forward to this season

I'm not looking forward to it. Watched the odd Championship match on tv last season and it looks shite. The standard is absolutely awful. The quality of the Play off final on Monday, between 2 of the so called best teams wouldn't have looked out of place in a Sunday League fixture.

I know we've been crap for a while now but at least in the Premier League you get the chance to see some real top class players, even if they are playing for the opposition. The thought of watching us go head to head with other shit teams in a half empty stadium holds little appeal to me.

Hopefully we appoint an inspiring manager who can inject a bit of enthusiasm back into me because the last few years have drained it all.
Totally agree. The difference in quality between both leagues is huge.

Was talking to a Boro fan at work who was saying that when you're in the championship it's something to aim for (promotion), but once you're in the premier league it's shit. And that sort of sums it up
That's true.

That's true.

In the premier league, any quality football you are going to see is likely to come from the opposition and I can't honestly say that I ever get any pleasure seeing the opposition play well.

They could score the most amazing goal ever in the history of football and I'd just think Oh shit !

Imagine typing that

If you want to watch decent quality of players "even if they play for the opposition" then support someone else as we haven't had quality players playing for us in years. I personally couldn't give a fuck who plays for the opponent I just want Sunderland to win. That's what makes me happy.

f***ing hell :lol::lol:

Maybe when you pay good money for anything you want good quality just a thought

You know these lads who want to watch quality players. Don't they have Sky or BT Sport? And if they want to watch them live, just pop over to Manchester City, they can get a cheap season ticket (as long as they don't care where they sit) and they'll get to watch quality players every other weekend.

I want to get behind the players who represent my club, I would watch them play against cloggers in the Evostick Premier if that's where they were.

The problem with that is you would not be asked to pay top money, if you asked to pay top money for anything you expect some quality for it.

Agree totally we have been out of our depth but what I'm saying is the quality between both leagues is immense.

Well you're not getting it with Sunderland whether we're in the Prem or not. I don't agree with people slating other fans for wanting a win every now and again, even if it's in the 2nd tier.

Sadly this is true; I have thought this for many years, the only piont of being in a division is to be able to compete, if you can't compete, you stink the place out

Brilliant post, love it

Seriously sick of the Premiership, sick of the c unts who have been stealing a living from our club, sick of the disgusting transfer fees paid for mediocre players with zero heart, sick of knowing that every season was going to be another survival battle with the only highlights being the inevitable double over the scum and tbh even that go so easy it was boring.

This relegation is a massive opportunity for our club to rid itself of the those who have taken the piss out of us for years and to decide what its identity is and pursue that identity. Southampton were in league one in 2010 and yet are light years ahead of us now. They had a plan, they created a philosophy and identity and they carried it through. Most of the Prem outside the top 6 would love to be Southampton now.

Sunderland is broken but all the pieces are there and we are light years ahead of where Southampton were in 2010. I for one cant wait for the new season, I cant wait to see the youngsters getting blooded, kids that will genuinely bust a gut for this club, cant wait to see hungry players turning out every week rather than self absorbed toss pots like Borini et al.

Top and bottom of it is, a Sunderland side doing well in the Championship will be a far better Saturday afternoon than a Sunderland side getting thumped yet again by a side like Bournemouth, Watford etc. Might even get me and the lad our first season tickets

Sorry but when i got to beating the scum was boring you lost me..........

i do not think you are alone on this, while i am not expecting us to 'set the league on fire' i am expecting us to have a team that actually looks motivated.

This all day long. A squad that wants to be there and look like they can arsed.

2 out of the 3 seasons I've enjoyed the most in the last 10 years have been in the championship. There's a lot to be said for watching your team winning and not expecting a defeat every weekend

improves people's moods and positivity

At least there is some uncertainty to where we will finish in the Championship. Constantly praying for 17th was soul draining and it was clearly evident at the SOL. Expecting to win games will be a pleasant change but I don't expect anything to come easy.

I take it those who are 'sick of the PL' didn't celebrate wildly last year when we beat Chelsea and Everton to stay in the PL.
"Sick of the PL" - No.
Sick of watching 11 spineless wankers get embarrassed every week - Yes.

Being in the the PL is living life in the fast lane. The pressure is huge. We couldn't afford to offload the shit because we needed the shit to "try" and stay up. We've been throwing money at shit teams since Keane left.

The only way to get rid of 11 spineless wankers is to not need them anymore. Thankfully, we don't need them now and can afford tell them to FO.

Yeah fair enough but I certsonly understand people wanting to watch some quality with the money they paying.

Agreed, a successful season in the Prem is not being bottom 3, what a f***ing way to exist.

There's another thread where it was made pretty clear that there's quite a few of your fans taking advantage of concessions or free tickets, so it could be argued, they're not paying top dollar.

I'd like this twice if I could.
