How much slower are you getting compared to on your phone?

Wired laptop typically 20mbps (crap laptop) versus 40-50 mbps (other laptop). Wireless 15mbps versus 30-40mbps. Phone gets similar WiFi speeds to other laptop.

crap laptop? Could just be an old network adapter then.

The laptop is fine except for the internet speeds its gets. It was about £500 3 years ago so shouldn't be crap but..... Can the network adaptor be replaced or will I need new laptop?

Also does the network adaptor affect both wired and wifi internet connections?

You'll have to go into device manager and find what nics you have to tell.
