"HMRC can now demand up-front repayment of tax which is the subject of a dispute, while a case is being heard"

This seems ludicrous!!

Didn't Collingwood lose a lot of money due to a bad financial advisor several years ago. I can't remember this clearly.

Dint care if he is a Safc fan & DCCC legend;

Anyone who takes part in tax avoidance schemes is a f***ing wanker.

Im a pauper and I have to pay my fair share of tax so why shouldn't these buggers on huge sums of ££

In fairness Colly isnt a great example. But the fuckers such as Jimmy Carr, Linekar, Gary Barlow who shit pound notes by comparison should be ashamed.

Don't care if it legal, it is morally wrong and shit.

Agree generally but if I've read this correctly (Im clueless about tax), the HMRC said it was ok and now have changed mind. That doesnt sit well with me

Agreed to a point, if HMRC decide it's ok then they can't change their mind

I'm simplistic over tax mind, you earn more and you should pay more. And schemes to avoid it are morally abhorrent, approved or not.

I'm lucky, I earn a canny whack, and I don't mind paying tax. (Aye it's a bit annoying, but I'm a significant net contributor, that feeds my ego)

Look at me, I'm rich and I pay tax. Pathetic!

I avoid tax, have done for years.

I don't see the point of paying more tax than what is due.

Anyways, I don't understand this particular scheme. I do know that Government(s) for the past God knows how many years have give the film industry tax breaks and encouraged this type of thing because they wanted to encourage film investment. But like I say, I don't understand what they're supposed to have done.

Exploiting loopholes in legislation is not paying what is due. No better than admitting you fiddle benefits.

Unfortunately the HMRC are a set of bastards who really don't know their arse from their elbows. My tax code is never correct and they seem to think it's my fault. Every time. One new financial year I had six new tax codes despite none of my circumstance changing.
