Coleman willing to take pay cut

I'm well aware of that.

He had to take a flier to shake up the team, it didn't come off but the first choice players he wanted wouldn't come.

I don’t believe the circumstances were ones on which I'd base a definitive opinion.
Yeah.

I think that a man who couldnt get a tune out of the squad in 6 months or work the market with no funds is the ideal candidate to bring in 14 players with no budget and get a tune out of the remains of the same squad.

Fantastic imo. Leading by example and showing that he isn't afraid to take a pay cut. Bet none of the fatcats upstairs willing take pay cuts and it's quite a bit of their doing that we are in this mess.

Rodwell.... How the fuck is he not embarrassed enough to just rip his contract up!?

Taking the job under clear crap circumstances makes him partially to blame for us dropping.
If he had any balls he would come out and make an ultimatum to Short or walk away.
It would be a nightmare if Short did the same again and so did CC.
Although we need stability CC has had zero affect on this squad, great words are not enough from Chris, it's time he grew a pair.

I hope he stays to rebuild the club, it's time to stop sacking managers which only disrupts things within the club, changing systems and tactics, let the poor buggers get used to playing man instead of chopping and changing every 2 minutes. I've never been a fan of sacking managers when the fans are let down. The fans keep making the same mistake in thinking a new manager will change it around, the past tells you no.

So I assume you are happy with the current system and tactics? They are one of the reasons we've been relegated.

FFS, we're talking about football, not brain surgery. If a new manager comes in with new effective tactics the players should be able to adapt to it fairly quickly.

He knows how to say the right things, doing them, well that has proved a bit more difficult for him. I want that graham potter in instead, we should take a chance. It’s why I want gerrard to go to rangers so they don’t get him.

fair play to him

I have no problem with Coleman as a bloke, I think he is genuine and means well.

What I find absolutely stunning, is that despite being in the bottom 3 when he took over, and us being in a financial mess, Bain did not put a wage drop in his contract.

What sort of incompetence is that?

We weren't planning for League 1, so probably thought there was no point?

He failed to get a rotten demoralised bunch of players, who obviously don't want to play for the club, to improve and want to play for the club.

Ditching him would be a big mistake imo.

well that is failure in itself surely, his job is to make them interested and to make them want to play for us, i like the bloke its hard not to but he has failed miserably and he knows it...time will tell

I love the bloke. We 100% couldn’t get anyone better. I still think we’re punching above our weight with him tbh.

I hope we stick with him for a long term plan

Once the rot had set that deep you can’t paint over the top anymore. It’s one of the reasons we’ve been in such free fall.
The end of this season is a defining moment in our rebuild. We have an excellent opportunity to repair the foundations

Do we need a massive clear out? Having loads of new players was one of the excuses used for this season's failure.

We need to keep the core of the squad, IMO.

We need to clear the way for some of the younger lads to step up. Those who currently have the 'responsibility' in the dressing room are a huge part of the problem, and have been for half a decade or more.

Loads of new players isn't an issue if the attitude is right.

People seem to be using it as an excuse for our failure this season though and the fact is, we might get players who's attitude is right in league 1, but their skills probably won't be right for progressing in the future.

What are you expecting from this "rebuild"? A total clearout and a new squad for next season?

Why not try and keep hold of our better players and bring in replacements for those that leave, instead of a total overhaul? We'll only get poor players while in league one anyway.

It's true that an element of patience will be required from us the fans.
I worry you and the rest of the vocal minority might not be up to it

And how do you do that with the likes of Rodwell, seriously.

There is absolutely no doubt that as a person (in his time here at least) Coleman behaves in a superb manner.

I'm not convinced by his ability to motivate players, but the current crop have more than a fair share of idle turds, so maybe best not to judge.

Well done to him.

By clear out I mean the poison in the club. I’m not naive enough to think we’re starting again. However we can’t keep building our defence around JoS, we can’t keep players like Rodwell and Catts sucking the moral out of the club. We’re the biggest club in L1. We can attract any player at this level and we could tempt some championship players to come to us. Not many other L1 teams can do that. We are in a great position for a long term plan

Rodwell is nowhere near the first team squad, Coleman doesn't need to get him interested. What Coleman needs to do is motivate the players he picks every week, and he's totally failed at that.

You mean the player of the year?
