Coleman willing to take pay cut

was decent for a few years around the time he got his 7 England caps
He was exactly the type of big bustling old fashioned centre forward who did for us time after time, yet when we got that type of player could never quite do it for us.

Anyway, I'll mark that down as a chomplet rather than a full blooded chomp ;)

An extra dig at Rodwel I reckon, mind, knowing Short, Coleman wants to be careful he doesn't take him up on it..

Like the bloke me.

I like the fact that he's trying to lead by example, in that he's not just in it for his own personal gain, like so many of the players.
In a way I feel sorry for the players. You can't turn a donkey into a race horse. No the finger of blame? Those at the top. We all like money and money in abundance. The players are no different.

Happy Times

well we will have around 250- 350k per week for wages, so he will need to work out a squad of 25 players on that so lots of freebies will be coming in.

Let's hope they're good enough mate.

I'm well aware of that.

He had to take a flier to shake up the team, it didn't come off but the first choice players he wanted wouldn't come.

I don’t believe the circumstances were ones on which I'd base a definitive opinion.
Why wouldn't they come?

Yes but he doesn’t have a clause , and he’s prepared to take 1, not many people offer that
Let's see if he actually takes one first before lavishing praise on him.

Last person I've known to do something similar was Matty piper.
I was just saying the other day what a very decent lad Matty was and how very sad that his short career was ended by long term injury - unlike some!

Fair play too to Chris Coleman. It might be the difference between us being able to afford a decent player or having to let them go. It would be wrong to take such guestures for granted when we are only too aware that others would take full advantage.

He failed to get a rotten demoralised bunch of players, who obviously don't want to play for the club, to improve and want to play for the club.

Ditching him would be a big mistake imo.
Certainly worked for Newcastle with Benitez. I'm not sure Coleman's past record inspires as much confidence but without a noteworthy replacement ditching him achieves nothing.

I'd be willing to give him a chance if, he has a massive clearout, brings his own backroom staff, and targets young hungry players.

Do we need a massive clear out? Having loads of new players was one of the excuses used for this season's failure.

We need to keep the core of the squad, IMO.

Why wouldn't they come?

It's either A, because of Coleman or B, because they didn't want to come to a club up for sale, on its arse and with players like Kone & Rodwell who couldn't give a shit.

I'm going for B .

We need to clear a fair few due to their wages being well above average for L1.

We couldn't even compete with Barnsley for a player in January and prospective players probably wouldn't give a shit about Rodwell, he doesn't even train with the first team.

As for the club being "on its arse", it was up to Coleman to persuade players he could turn it round and move up the table.

It doesn't bode well for Coleman attracting the best players in league one.

Agree - we need to get rid of some of the really high earners, but I don't think we should be looking to clear out the whole squad. We need to review the squad, see who leaves, and then look to replace them, not sack everybody off and rebuild an entire new squad, which seems to be being mooted.
