Coleman willing to take pay cut

He failed to get a rotten demoralised bunch of players, who obviously don't want to play for the club, to improve and want to play for the club.

Ditching him would be a big mistake imo.
You forgot to add despite signing half a a dozen players.

Bain and Coleman just need to sit down and work out a budget, this is the budgeted income and this is what we can spend on wages for the squad and then work out who they want to keep and who they let go.

 Sounds like they need a plan. But,what's the objective of the plan and can it be financed? Over to you,Mr Short. What's that..the plan is to keep costs as low as possible and to sell for as much as possible...ok...err...what about the objective of winning football matches? What's that...ah..ok...you don't want to be bothered with incidentals?

I get the feeling he’s made this statement on the unwritten premise that it will be under new ownership. Kind of a subtle job application for whoever they may be.
Could be or simply a galvanising gesture aimed at pulling the committed ones together and further alienating those that want no part. If it serves to highlight Rodwell's greed then fine by me. It would be superb if another high earner (Cattermole) made a similar gesture and led by example.

All part of the master plan.

Bain appears earlier in the week to upset everyone and divert attention from the failure of relegation.

Chris appears a few days to later to 'lay the 'right' things.

Coleman should ask the players to take a reduction to 10k a week, as it is the club will need to sack at least another 100+ people to balance the books, if everyone took a paycut then maybe able to save 20-30 people.

Didn’t that American defender who used to play for the Mags do something similar when he played for Milan? I can’t remember the story but he said that he shouldn’t be paid for his terrible knee injury so either he reduced his wage for the remainder of his contract, or extended his contract by a year with no additional salary (i.e a 2 year contract On £10k a week became a 3 year contract on 6.7k a week).

I'm well aware of that.

He had to take a flier to shake up the team, it didn't come off but the first choice players he wanted wouldn't come.

I don’t believe the circumstances were ones on which I'd base a definitive opinion.

To be honest they have been given license to come up with a plan as long as it stays within the budget.

From the 2 Echo articles it sounds like Coleman has a plan for what needs doing, but expects nothing to be agreed while Short is still here. It states that he asked for funds in January and was given a flat NO.
His tone indicates that without a takeover next season is going to be just as difficult.

Absolutely spot on. Those that want him gone (mercifully outnumbered 80:20) ignore the circumstances under which he has had to operate. It's always the same.

Astonishing from Coleman really. When has a manager or a player ever said he'd be willing to discuss lesser wages?

What a bloke.
A wonderful human and will be here with the £25 million he gets for squad rebuilding next season.

Happy Times

fair play to him

I have no problem with Coleman as a bloke, I think he is genuine and means well.

What I find absolutely stunning, is that despite being in the bottom 3 when he took over, and us being in a financial mess, Bain did not put a wage drop in his contract.

What sort of incompetence is that?
The one thing we appear to be good at these days.

No big deal.

He has failed spectacularly imo.

Should have had a relegation clause in his contract.
Cant disagree mate regarding his part in the failure however it is still testament to his attitude and quite humbling that he sees the potential in our club .

Yes,but does the budget allow sufficient for the required squad renewal?

Nobody is ignoring the circumstances he's had to operate. People are ignoring the fact other managers have had to deal with difficult circumstances this season and have outperformed him.
For what it's worth I'm neither in or out. He hasn't done a very good job but i've acknowledged the manager merry go round is part of the problem. He has provided very little evidence to suggest he's the man to turn it around though, it's also funny that even he has acknowledged he's done a poor job and we still have people denying it.
