Coleman willing to take pay cut

Current wages are 750k about 700k too much. At least he is more or less admiting he has been shit.

No I am not, he is talking sense

Normally managers say you need to rip up everything and start again with a massive budget

that is not how football works and never will.
Yes. What we really need now is more of the same.

We've just been unlucky.

This is the PF part of the Sunderland message board. SAFC have just been relegated by a shit manager, so excuse me for posting about it on here.

Crack on, ;)
I never said you couldn't .
I didn't agree or disagree.
I merely posted an observation ;)

Astonishing from Coleman really. When has a manager or a player ever said he'd be willing to discuss lesser wages?

What a bloke.

Multi-millionaire football manager takes salary cut to make himself look better having failed.

He could work for free and still have more than enough money for the rest of his life.

Personally, he should resign rather than take a salary reduction.

He came here without a budget so was left pissing in the wind...nice to see he wants to prove he can be a success, and willing to take a cut, however unfortunately without the support from the owner he'll still be pissing in the wind...

Bain and Coleman just need to sit down and work out a budget, this is the budgeted income and this is what we can spend on wages for the squad and then work out who they want to keep and who they let go.

I get the feeling he’s made this statement on the unwritten premise that it will be under new ownership. Kind of a subtle job application for whoever they may be.

Hasn’t been the 3rd division for over 25 years, and has been called League 1 for almost 15.

It’s a bit like calling a radio “the wireless”.
Or indeed calling football “soccer”.

Carlton Cole

Voluntarily took a 50% pay cut when we went down even though he had two premier league sides he could have gone to
Carlton Cole.

Player.

Sorry just not used to seeing this word combination together so I thought I’d give it a run out.

He has to stay in my opinion, he's got some of the youngsters playing for him after giving them a chance, he's had time to look at the youngsters and the squad to see what we need. If he does take a pay cut it will set an example to the rest of the squad, not that i expect any players to follow suit but it may help some realise they must move on to help the club.

Of the players signed last year, they have wage cut clauses but the PL players still here don't have a double clause so will be on massive wages for L1.

Cattermole
Rodwell
Oviedo
Kone

The 4 above we need to find buyers for asap. McNair, Love, Watmore & Matthews you'd hope wouldn't be on huge wages. Everyone else should be close to L1 wages when taking into accounts the cuts, maybe McGeady the exception but i'd expect him to want to be away regardless.

EDIT: Forgot about the ones out on loan, Borini and Lens are already gone, so Khazri/Ndong/Djilibodji we need to find buyers for also.

His actual football management performance so far is very much debatable, and it has been debated.

But he is genuinely the only thing holding it from complete implosion at present and for that I think he deserves credit because although things are bad, its not gone completely barmy.

If Short stays, says no again to funding then Coleman walks it's going to get messy quickly and effectively destroy next season before it's even started
