Colback outstanding AGAIN...

He played well, he wasn't 'outstanding' though, IMO. Although, people may be more inclined to think so given his consistent mediocrity.

Insanely one-footed and should of done better for the position he was in at times, but we still won, so I'm happy.

.. we should do everything we can to keep him
We seem to have a growing list of players we should keep, neglecting the fact that they arent good enough and that they have continually got us into relegation trouble. Let them go marra. We can get much better if we have a mind too.

Larsson had an assist

Colback put in a good header for the Wickham penalty/red card. It was arguably an "assist" which had more influence than anything else in the game.
He also put in the cross for Borini's effort, as close as you'd ever get to an assist without receiving one. Colback did everything right.

These incidents are in addition to what you get from Colback every game.

He was doing his usual hiding behind opposition first half and anonymous jack technique. He had a good second half regaining possession well on a couple of occasions but not outstanding.

And what exactly is a footballers, footballer?

 It wasn't. Stop talking shit.

The bit where he took the ball from Wickham, moved it past the tackler quickly with his right foot, then drove into the space before being fouled outside the box was class.

Had a superb game today.

No  He (Colback) played well but stop over playing his importance.

Pathetic

No. Are you saying it wouldn't be classed as a "modern day" assist, assuming he'd gone through and scored?

I agree by the way. When i played sport an assist meant you'd basically handed a direct scoring opportunity to a team mate on a plate. A chance that was almost impossible not to put the finishing touch to.
Somewhere along the line it was changed to almost mean the last player to touch the ball before a goal. Completely devalued stat in my opinion nowadays.
Without starting a Henderson debate, Jordan somehow got an "assist" for toe poking a scrambled pass to Suarez, who then had to beat 2/3 players outside the box before a tremendous finish.

As i said, the term assist sometimes has a different meaning to me. In my days Colback's header was nowhere near an assist but i'm not sure of the current interpretation.

Colback was man of the match for me today. Considering we will already be losing Gardner, Ki, Vaughan, Cabral and probably N'Diaye from midfield numbers in the summer, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to keep Colback and Larsson as squad men and keep our cash to look for 1/2 very good midfielders to go straight into the team rather than have to spend it on 4 players. The deals would have to be on suitable terms for the club though. Also, if we could only keep one, I'd rather we kept Larsson.

I think the club would look at Larsson's wages and Colback's wages. I've a feeling the disparity will be a lot wider than their playing ability and overall contribution.
That said, both of them usually put a shift in, even if they're not exactly prolific attackers.

That's a fair point. Given Larsson's age as well, a new deal for Colback would probably be the most beneficial financially. Although keeping both is probably the common sense approach even if it's just shorter contracts so we don't have to do a whole rebuild at once.
