Clueless police.

i'd love to hear the rationale behind the decision to park two massive bizzie vans on the path next to st.peters metro after the game. the exact spot where there is always a bottle neck anyway, and the slap two transit vans on the footpath to make it even tighter.

then people start getting tetchy at the idiocy of the whole thing. then the coppers can pretend its all kicking off.

f***ing idiots man

Most irritating thing about that was the smarmy copper standing with big dirty smirks on their face when people were complaining.

Aye it wasn’t the decision of individual coppers how they went about it but don’t antagonise people by smirking at them when they’re basically kettled into a small area for no reason

Genuinely can’t think of a reason for this. Really stupid. Any ideas anyone?

Just to antagonise people I'm sure. Try to create flash points to justify their presence. There's a huge open space on the opposite side of the station, about 100 yards away under the tunnel. Could have parked 20 of thier vans there and not causes an ounce of inconvenience

I was in the bar at the time. The police wanted it to go
Off it didn’t. They allowed Sunderland to enter the bar and move to the back with boro there.

Police tried to set both lots up and it didn’t work. Riot police waiting with cameras. If this kicked off it would have all been on the police.

Luckily both sets realised it was police instigating this.

Interesting post, I have seen this a few times in the past, police let it go off, film the trouble and make arrests, then go through the footage and make even more arrests....does this get the arrest figures up and justifies the expense of the big police presence?

Spot on, a few coppers were desperate for it to kick off there. Absolutely crazy how they created a bottle neck and more issues around St Peter’s and the bridge after.

That baffled me also.
People getting squeshed if something had kicked off it would have been chaos.

Means you can have four foot coppers.

I wouldn’t want to know what the police bill was for today, literally everywhere you went at least 20 coppers stood together doing square root of fuck all
Must of had intelligence of more bother than actually happened, total over the top, almost like big day out for them on double time no doubt

It was a strange one mate, fortunately both sets of supporters today knew this was the crack. Otherwise would have been a different story.

They clearly believed it was Al Qaed rovers visting us.

No organisation, let about 50..60 boro supporters just walk into jamesons , police stand outside with cameras, now piled out out of there heading up holmeside.
They walked straight to the toilets, most with faces covered, and then decided the queue for a pint was too long. So decided to head up Holmeside😂😂 Average age was about 16-17 and not sure they were up for anything other than a ‘50 of us took their pub and they didn’t want to know’ type of bullshit😂

Not sure you can blame the police if a load of grown blokes who simply support a different football team chose to bray each other arlowa in a pub 😂

They blocked off that passageway before they game as well but not with vans.

Whole thing was bizarre. Been to mags away without anywhere near and many. Think the Johnson game we didn’t even get a police presence to the ground. There were police and vans all owa the town centre today. For absolutely fuck all as well.

3 vans full of them outside new look next to the Peacock 30 mins before kickoff.

I didn’t see a singe Boro fan on way to ground or back to town after bar where they enter the ground in the north and there was more police outside new look than there was actually at the stadium.
Maybe they had read this forum as it became like a rabid Daily Mail column as this week went on…..
‘Boro will do this…Boro will do that’….but actually Boro won’t do anything because their fans are just like yours and everyone else’s.

Maybe next time don’t believe the ridiculous hype that gets whipped up.
