That came later!
Charlie adores the Sunderland public his love of the club will never diminis h I do hope he makes it along with his family.i feel honoured to have been with him and his family on a few occasions.its a bit of a journey for him but I know he'll make every effort, God bless the king.

Did anyone get arrested for the pitch incursions? Cops didn't seem bothered

I like how they patrolled the touch line.
No we were all just bairns it was a lot more lighthearted in those days

met him about 8 years ago in Stockport I think it was, with the Greater Manchester Branch, a canny bloke like but he was even more steaming than me that night, and that's going some, what sticks in my mind when I met him was the size of his hands, I certainly wouldn't have liked to have got on the wrong side of him in his youth but from what I have heard about him he was a very tough but fair player, my uncle mentioned a header against Norwich and he said it was the best goal he ever scored:lol:

Why?
Is CH day an annual event that Ive missed out on?
Is it summit thats been planned for months but just been announced giving a weeks notice?
Or is it an attempth to deflect attention from onfield events on what has to be the biggest non-derby game for years?
No mate, it's an attempt to bridge the yawning gap between the stands and the pitch and bring a bit of good feeling and positivity back to the club. It might just be the thing to bring some positivity to the pitch as well!

If your ever with him he'll recall that goal as if it were yesterday. I first met him many years ago with a mate in the Seaburn hotel one Friday lunchtime, he walked past us and just stopped and started asking how we were etc, then invited us to join him and our old physio Johnny Watters for a drink we stayed the rest of the afternoon. Johnny showed us a newspaper cutting from a Scotland v England game from around the 1920s with 126,00 packed into Hampden Johnny was playing that day.Myself and a couple of mates took him out for dinner not long after that and we later introduced the idea of a celebration to mark 50 years at the club that turned into a great evening at the stadium in 2007 when his wife and daughters and family all came up for it.In my life he is the only man I have ever been in awe of, hours in his company seem like minutes.

Nice idea but wrong tine imho. Setting us right up for a fall on the pitch in a game we absolutely must win.
