Cirkin back to Spurs?

I dont believe this will happen like but its slightly worrying were facing the prospect of losing 2 players in the summer - cirkin and stewart.

Especially as we would then have no strikers at all.

Not a fan of us going into summer windows like that.

I think a lot of that hinges on where we finish and how our season has gone overall.
People seem convinced Stewart is going to go and potentially to Rangers.
Rangers have 11 Forwards in their squad this year.

11. Why would he go there if he's not going to get a sniff of action?

"The North London club surprisingly let him go and could pull off another shock by bidding to bring him back.

However, that may be part of an elaborate move to sign Dublin-born Cirkin and then sell him soon after to a rival."

Is nixon suggesting spurs want to buy him back, just to sell him again?
If they think his value has risen and someone will pay £10m then they can pay the buy back and sell him on and make £4m profit.

I think he's pretty unlikely to want to go back to Spurs even if they did trigger the clause. The issue is that his agent will use it as an opportunity to renegotiate wages if a Premier League club is after him and then the vultures start hovering

A key consideration is that the player is not obligated to sign for anybody and move down the country because the two clubs have an agreement in principle, ask yourself if the player might wish to move to London only to sign with Spurs who intend to ship him out again in the next window? Unless there is a massive financial windfall for the lad, I doubt he'd be happy to basically suspend his career and life for 6 months whilst Spurs make money off him.
Yes, it is up to Cirkin. If Spurs have indicated that they want him back, I would assume that he's been involved in discussions about that proposal. Whether it's because Spurs see him being in their first team or are proposing that he goes to another team, perhaps West Ham or Palace. I'd also assume that if Spurs are to make a biggish profit from the transaction(s) that he'll be expecting a share of those profits.

That's the price of success and a nice £5m profit over a year or so. We don't really miss Cirkin now that Alese is looking the part.

I suspect the new model won't be as popular when our good players are sold

Buts that's the plan.

The true test will not be selling at a profit, it will be the replacement that comes in each time. Will it be back to the drawing board with another kid with zero experience or does the money go towards someone higher up the chain.

Be amazed if we keep Patterson, Cirkin, Ballard & Clark if we're in this league for any length of time

The last three will be premiership players I am sure. Clarkes improvement curve is stunning, I think he will be gone next summer

The player we don’t own and returns to parent club at end of season

Flipping heck 😲... I thought he was on loan, what a bloody buy. To have purchased Ballard, Cirkin and Alese is some business.

I think of them as 30% loan 70% permanent.

We might well own them 'permanently' but if the buy back clauses are so low that they end up returning well below market value its going to be no brainers for the original clubs.

Cirkin returning to Spurs would be disappointing in the short term, but this is also the model working. If we continue to buy players for a million and sell them for six then that is a highly successful, long-term financial strategy. As the finances build up we will be in a stronger and stronger position to resist, and to impose higher buy-back clauses.
All in all it looks like we're doing the right thing and long may it continue.

He will go to any club thats going to pay the going rate for a striker sunderland don't want to pay him top money to sign a new long term contract

If it’s gonna happen, I’d much prefer it to happen in the summer.

Not that I want it to happen. The lad has improved immensely since joining and will only get better

Yep, that's pretty much the angle. All 3 were about £1m each iirc? U23 talent yet unproven; 1 breakthrough season at Championship level and they are worth the 5/6m buyback clause. We've shown we can develop lads in the loan market and this is the next level up... buy for 1m, sell for x5 a year later? We'll lose a couple like that, but we'll keep some too to go on to a much higher value.

No they can't as they've got to pay him a contract - say 4 years at what 20k, 25k, 30k, give him a signing on fee and then settle the contract / loyalty payments which would take the deal way over the 10m mark.

Unless you think he's going to sign for nowt and accept any old deal just to make Spurs a few quid.

It's not as simple a trade as some think. It may make sense for Spurs to buy him back its not going to be as an instant sell on.

If clubs are going to pay 10m for him he's not going to sign for Spurs like some cow at a market when him and his agent know there's earning potential

This is the future yes. Players come in. Do well for a season of 2 and move on at s profit, to be reinvested into the squad and or cover costs. Brighton have done it brilliantly, Southampton previously too. We're bigger than both together and think once we get a reputation for giving young talent a chance the standard of player will increase expernentially
