Chris Young: De Guzman isn't interested in Sunderland move..

But Short keeps making these bad appointments! He messed up big time with PDC when Hughes was on the market and messed up with Poyet when Pulis was on the market. Maybe if the chairman appointed the best option we wouldn't be looking to sack the manager every season. He also appointed de Fanti, a buddy of his and an ex-agent to become DoF.

The mess we are in isn't just down to Advocaat. It's down to upteem mistakes over the last 4 years. What's happening now is the chickens are coming home to roost. We have no philosophy, strategy or structure to the club.

My pet hate on here, 20/20 hindsight.

Look back and you'll find the Poyet appointment was generally welcomed, even the PDC appointment was split. It's a piece of piss to look back now and criticise but remember, Mark Hughes had walked out on Fulham and spent a fortune at QPR and was taking them down. You're talking like it was an obvious decision to get Mark Hughes, it wasn't.

Remember as well, De Fanti and Angeloni (or whatever he was called) had done well at Udinese and Inter Milan, it's not like he appointed his mate from the pub. You're right about the changes costing us a fortune and the seeming lack of any coherent plan, that's what Congerton has been brought in to address. Let's give him a bit of time.

Here's a little game for you: Pick any side from the (predicted) bottom half and compare the first XIs, then make a combined team. Tell me how many SAFC players are in that side. I bet you we're well represented in all of those teams.

We aren't a great side but people are talking like we're miles behind everyone else in the league, and that simply isn't true.

De Guzman (more like his agent) has made further 'conditions'. He now wants a guarantee of regular first team appearances

There are no guarantees in this life. Maybe you are better than Liam Bridcutt, maybe you aren't....... *Taps nose*

not a case of having it in for them;
more a case how highlighting the fact that these are responsible for reporting the news
and its apparent they're are as ill informed as the rest of us, just that theyre paid to do it

we read it because its become a joke how ill informed they are

fitting

Don't read it

he's more informed than you

i'll read it if i choose to, ill comment on it as I see fit.
as for being more informed;is he?
He doesnt report as though he is.
its some how strangly fitting that given our woeful plight our local paper has chosen to follow SAFC example

I find it odd that you're so defensive of a hack actually getting paid to do a job, whilst so scathing of a group of people who do the same thing for free and on their own time.

Because that Captain fishpaste is the most arrogant man ever, Chris Young is not

He has good numerous things right over the years.

really, i don't seem to recall any.
i find your defense rather curious, do you work for the echo? are you the journo in question?

all very curious

He woudnt do very well here, our style of play woudnt suit him

Look at ki as a example

If Everton do want him, that's where he'll go.

Not sure. Think the reference in his agent's statement about first team football could be a reference to Everton. He'd be in direct competition with Barkley there.

McCarthy < Pantillmon
Ward > Jones
Dann > Coates
Delaney < O'Shea
Souaré > van Aanholt
McArthur = Cattermole
Cabaye > Rodwell
Zaha < Defoe
Sako < M'Vila
Puncheon < Lens
Murray > Graham

But look at the bench
Bamford = Watmore
Hennessey < Mannone
Lee Chung-yong > Giaccherini
Jedinak > Brown
Gayle > Fletcher
Mutch < Larsson
Kelly > Mathews

Bear in mind Bolaise, Ledley Wickham and Chamakh weren't in the squad

But do you see what I'm getting at here? You've picked Palace, who are being tipped for top ten (them and Stoke seem to be the darlings of the press this year), and you've put more players of ours than theirs in the first XI.

Everyone will have a different opinion on any of these comparisons, but the point was that we aren't the huge shambolic mess that people would have you believe. We have some good players, we have a good manager. Our side stands up to most in the bottom half, it's just that we talk about our players all day every day, so we are quick to find fault with them.

Ah yes, the standard every post must be full of extremes response. Unless you are constantly slamming the club over everything they do, you must be 100% happy at what's going on. Gotcha.

I have no idea what you're going on about.

I'm saying that the club is poorly run, have had the worst transfer window in the league, and that our manager is unhappy.

I think is this is all A Bad Thing.

What, exactly, do you disagree with?

A manager being unhappy with player recruitment is nothing new. He is unhappy with MVila? Lens? Kaboul (he had no input there then?). He really does need to consider his position, if so.

We need him more than he needs us. And in case you've missed the big-neon-letters point, he is unhappy with who we haven't brought in.

He is the go to mercenary for clubs in crisis. We got him to delay his retirement by begging. If he leaves - and leaves this dreadful squad behind - what do you we propose we do next?

Are you doing some extreme Likely Lads tribute where you have a marathon Match of the Day binge at the end of a season of games you avoid watching?

If so, I'd fast forward the first few games. And all of last season.

I'm disagreeing with your original post on this thread. We've established that it was total shite, as there isn't a single club in the league who had finished all their transfer business by season start. You changed the parameters then saying that it wasn't that the business was finished, it's that it had barely begun. Again, we've shown that to be wrong.

While we're at it, I'll disagree with your second post. I think there'll be new players arriving and that Congerton and Advocaat will still be here next Wednesday. We'll see who's right in a weeks time.

You then started trying to put words in my mouth by asking if I was claiming that everything in the Sunderland camp was rosy. Nobody is claiming that, me included.

If we're doing silly 70s sitcom analogies then you need to stop shouting WE'RE DOOMED! WE'RE DOOMED! as you're making us all look silly.
