Chris Young: De Guzman isn't interested in Sunderland move..

In fairness to Spav clubs have done about 80%-90% of their business by the start of the season. Swansea, Stoke and Southampton have all but done theirs and the rest will adding the finishing touches. We need 3 quality signings in. That's the bare minimum. Coates was here last season. Dick clearly want Lombaerts and Fer but didn't get them. He took Kaboul as an alternative. So only Lens and M'Vila are real quality. It depends on who he wanted. If he want the likes of Lombaerts, Fer, Lochia, Claise as the other four he has been badly let down.

People are still trying to excuse Short from any blame. But the buck stops with him. This mess is down to years of mismanagement of appointing the wrong people and trying to work on a shoestring. Short is the leader of this FFP but his own house is in a mess. The wage bill has gone from £58m to £70m under Shorts watch. He must have know this or else he has no real interest in the club.

I very much doubt we'll bring three upper Premier League/international quality players by the end of the window, so prepare to be disappointed. Dick rates Kaboul, just look back at the quotes. Coates, no idea personally but given that he had 9 games to work with Coates I think it's fair to assume Dick is happy with him. Matthews, who knows - it's a step up from that league.

Nobody is trying to excuse Short from any blame. He has made mistakes. To be fair to Short though, have a look back at the reaction of the fans when he has appointed and sacked managers. PDC apart, you'll find the fans welcomed all the appointments and were calling for all the sackings. If Short is a fool then we all are fools.

then he can piss off. Why would we consider a deal for a player so reluctant to play for the club for more than a year. It's like agreeing to shag someone as long as they don't expect a cuddle afterwards.

Let's cut our nose off to spite our face then. In fact let's not sign anyone - that'll learn them all...

Jonathan de Guzman's agent says his client may still move to #SAFC, if it's a loan without the option to buy.

Why would it make any difference to the player if the loan contract contains an option to buy clause?

I've always believed that such a clause is an agreement between the clubs relating to the purchase price that would need to be met if the option was taken up and that it would still need the agreement of the player to consent to a permanent transfer at that point.

So (unless I am totally wrong) why should the existence of such a clause be of importance to the player at this stage?

Napoli wants an obligation to buy clause, like in the Alvarez case. That means a deal with the player should also be in place, as they don't want to be messed around by us or the player next summer.

The quote from his agent, though, refers to an option (not obligation) to buy.

My interpretation of all the stuff the agent has been saying:

Since Marseille changed coach from Bielsa to Michel the De Guzman camp haven't heard anything back from them. JDG wants to join Marseille, so they are stalling to see if talks will commence.

But at the moment they are looking into other options (including us) because that deal is increasingly looking unlikely. They are also stalling to drum up more interest to see if anyone better will come in.

There's a good chance JDG will come here, imo. What Bielsa wanted isn't necessarily what the new Marseille coach wants. Michel will have his own ideas on how to improve their team and players he wants.

Lets face it we are bottom of the pile...we'd be better off keeping what little money we have and concentrate on our promising young players, If we go down so be it, at least we'll get rid of most of our deadwood and hopefully start again

My Everton supporting mate is adamant he's off to them. Reported in their Echo - No one has a f***ing clue... I don't even think De Guzman himself knows what's going on.

But Short keeps making these bad appointments! He messed up big time with PDC when Hughes was on the market and messed up with Poyet when Pulis was on the market. Maybe if the chairman appointed the best option we wouldn't be looking to sack the manager every season. He also appointed de Fanti, a buddy of his and an ex-agent to become DoF.

The mess we are in isn't just down to Advocaat. It's down to upteem mistakes over the last 4 years. What's happening now is the chickens are coming home to roost. We have no philosophy, strategy or structure to the club.

comedic that "professional" journalist source articles dug up by more media savvy fans.
the echo being made to look like a dinosaur

@andy78 hope your on some sort of echo commission

Why do so many people have it in for a local journalist who will get paid very little

It's idiots sat at home refreshing internet every minute till we sign someone

If you don't believe him fine, why the fuck do you read it then?

Agree with this. I'd rather the younger lads were given a go than just panic buy tbh. If we're going to spend it'd have to be proven quality or there's no point.

not a case of having it in for them;
more a case how highlighting the fact that these are responsible for reporting the news
and its apparent they're are as ill informed as the rest of us, just that theyre paid to do it

we read it because its become a joke how ill informed they are
