We need to lay this to rest. It's clearly 3. "When Kaboul is fit he's a very good player" are advocaats exact words last night. His talk about player cost related to their ability to be effective from the start. While that has thus far proved a problem for Kaboul, Mvila has acclimatised faster than expected. Two or three more players of good quality and he's pretty much got what he wanted.Well it's clearly 2. If either Lens or M'Vila is not classed as quality then people are going to be very, very disappointed,

He's not. However we simply weren't going to get 6 players of that sort of standard. What we have got in advocaats view is a very good player for the first XI. If we can achieve six new first teamers by the end of window - and 3-4 of them are of the standard of the two you've mentioned - then we've improved our chances significantly.Possibly although I wouldn't put Kaboul in the same bracket as Lens and M'Vila.

This is what happens when you fail to complete your business before the start of the seasons. You have a bad start to the season because you don't have enough good players, then good players don't want to join because of your bad start to the season.
I shudder to think of what panic-signing dross we bring in between now and month-end.
As I said yesterday, this transfer window is like my pulling days. I'll enter the night club at 12.30 confident I'll pull a half decent lass. Before it's 2.10 and I'm get desperately chatting up the fat lasses!
Dick said he want 5/6 quality players. The only ones we got are Lens and M'Vila. He wanted Lombaerts and Fer but both 'failed' their medicals. He got Kaboul and we still don't have the back up for Fer. It will be interesting to see who he wanted. If he wanted Locadia, Fer, Lombaerts, Claise, Lens, M'Vila and de Guzman, he wasn't looking to break the bank. It's as clear as day the team needs investing.
He says about being understood to want a move to Marseille, total guess work from all the tweets we've been reading! He's basically guessing!

But how do you 'fail' a medical? It's been said on here that you can't (unless your dead) to fail a medical. It's the clubs choice to go by the report. The two players are still fit to play football aren't they? So we decided against signing them because of their medical reports.'Failed'. Take your tin foil hat off man you great big fanny.

Are the two of them still able to play football for their clubs? So did we not decide not to sign them because of this?Bloody nora.

He may well now be a joke. Personally I need to see more of him as he used to be more than good enough for us. Point is that advocaats thinks he's a 'very good player' as of last night and so it's reasonable to assume that he's one of the sixAbsolutely. I'm not convinced the De Guzman deal is no go at all. We all go through News Now and the sources so far that say this are at the bollocksy end of the spectrum. The Everton link seem, to me at least, to be nonsense. And he's been holding out for Marseille all summer, with little indication they are interested.
He'll probably still turn us down like, but I just think a lot of shit is being written up about this deal. He clearly has a very active agent.
KABOUL IS A JOKE. HOW MANY MORE TIMES DO PEOPLE NEED TO BE TOLD!!!!!
Ahem. Anyone who comes back with "he shouldn't be written off after two games" needs to speak to a Spurs fan immediately.
No. You seem to think that I'm making out that the club are pulling a fast one with the failed medicals. But we decided not to sign the players because of their medical reports. Are you winding me up?
Fer is still injured isn't he?Are the two of them still able to play football for their clubs? So did we not decide not to sign them because of this?
He'll be back in two weeks according to QPR. We didn't want to wait and that's how he 'failed' his medical. He wouldn't play until after the international break. In hindsight we should take the gamble as we have no one at the minute.Fer is still injured isn't he?
You make a good point re the change of formation v Swansea but I still don't think it's the manager's fault that so many players acted like they'd never seen a football in their lives for the first two games.'Failed'. Take your tin foil hat off man you great big fanny.
Maybe we'll go back to Fer on deadline day? If a player has 8 weeks recovery for a knee injury I can understand a bit of hesitancy. I'd imagine that we could do a similar deal next Tuesday but have a bit more confidence that nothing will go wrong with a couple of weeks left. The last thing we'd want would be for him to break down again and have another 6 months out with us having used up a domestic loan. He'll be back in two weeks according to QPR. The Lombearts one is a strange one. He's still playing for Zenit but he failed. Maybe he didn't reach the standard?!
