Rigg is starting to get amongst the first team set up now. If he's as good as they say hopefully, the likes of Ballard, Cirkin, Clarke and Roberts have told him what's its like when you go into these big clubs and disappear amongst the numbers. I'd hope the lad is now staring to see his hard work pay off and his route to first team football is in sight.
Good post. Our good recruitment has been identifying and giving game time to players lost in the systems of big clubs. There’s just no way he gets the opportunities we can offer at the Mags

Well that depends how good he is. If he’s outstanding, he’d play there. Just have to look at Foden at City, Rashford at Man United, Mount at Chelsea, Elliott and Alexander Arnold at Liverpool. The cream always rises to the top.
Well, it's a bit of a one-sided argument, as you'll never know which players that could have made, and didn't, because the sat in the reserves and on perpetual loans.

In terms of big clubs wasting talented young players, you could look at De Bruyne, Lukaku, Pique, Salah as examples of players that were stifled by a big clubs (mostly Chelsea) chasing chasing the pot of gold, and not giving young players a chance. Those players had to leave and go elsewhere, before establishing themselves as huge assets. Lukaku not so much, but Chelsea had De Bruyne and Salah on their books at the same time, and wouldn't play them. They've since gone on to have excellent careers, at rival clubs that often beat Chelsea to titles. Those players managed to still become top players despite being held back by being at Chelsea at a young age. Like I said, we'll never know how many could've made it, and didn't.

All the Mag media almost willing this to happen. Not one journalist writing anything about how Rigg may he better staying at SAFC to progress his career by getting quicker, more regular first team chances once he is physically ready and if he continues to develop footballing wise.

I fear that, like their poaching of the now sacked Elliott Dickman from our academy, Saudi Arabia United are purposely targeting this lad in a case of one upmanship and sniggering behind the scenes at our expense. Possibly offering his parents riches behind the scenes as well as £££ temptations to the lad himself.

The Mags seem to be putting a lot of effort into unsettling the lad. Feels pretty small time on their part.
They only want him for the first interview on the website. They’ll do fuck all for him.
They got Elliott Dickman in just to score points. That worked out well.
The worst coach in their history according to some of them. Yes even worse than the child molester

With the direction that Newcastle are going in, Rigg is extremely unlikely to ever play any sort of first team football with them as regardless of talent, he will constantly be behind new big money signings and would most likely bounce around on loan after loan after loan.

It would be career suicide, but money talks.

He will be getting told by everyone around him how great he is. He won't believe for one second that he won't make it in to the scum's first eleven.
He and his family will no doubt be richly renumerated and that sadly is what will probably count.

You’re right in what you’re saying but the examples you gave all went on to become world class performers at big clubs. They may have had set backs or had to get experience around Europe but it comes back to the original point; the genuinely outstanding rise to the top.

If Rigg has the ability and temperament of the players you listed, he’ll be a massive success wherever he goes.

7 outfield players on the bench and 5 subs can be made so a good chance he’ll get on. Especially if this strong start 11 can get us a couple goal lead.

He could stay here on a tiny wage or go to a club that will pay him a fortune immediately and will soon loan him out to a club that would have paid him a tiny wage. A bit like Amad really. It must be a really difficult decision 🥱

Let's face it, if his family are big Newcastle fans, they would have looked at Newcastles academy first over ours straight away, yet they still choose to send him to Sunderland. They clearly decided their sons development was more important than shirt colours. I'd argue that now the lad is getting some exposure to our first team, why would you then undo all the hard work by moving to a club that will probably put him on the outskirts of their U23's

It would be very stupid to stop his progression now, in what is the start of the most important time of his career as a footballer.

Ltd co might get that but “take home”….nah. £2K week on LTD working 50 hours a week is still £40/hour. Seems high for a spark but possible in certain fields. Like you say oil and gas work more than feasible.
At 22 as well. Nikola Tesla wouldn’t be earning that in this day and age.
