Bad enough when clubs come in for established first teamers but now top flight clubs with silly money come in for promising academy youngsters you just think what’s the f***ing point? All these clubs continually do is strip other less wealthy clubs of their better players from different levels.

Clubs like Sunderland, with decent potential, should be doing everything to at least keep players like Rigg until he breaks into the first team and ultimately get a fee that makes all the time and effort spent developing him worthwhile and get proper money for him that can be invested in the squad to move us forward.

Do you think that we do try and keep him and other potential prospects here but the lure of a bigger club and more money appeals to the player, family and agent?

The kids 15 year old. We’ve got no chance of keeping him regardless.

The year is 2042, Chris Rigg, or Riggsy as he’s universally known, completes football by adding the 2042 World Cup (held in Syria) to his 7 world player of the year awards, 4 champions leagues and 11 premier leagues. He immediately announces his desire to retire from international football.

Meanwhile, the SMB fumes about his 500k transfer to Newcastle United in January 2023
