Webbers post race interview was interesting saying that it's not real racing when the car in front can't defend due to bad tyres and drs.

While that is probably true we saw what happened with no DRS/KERS/Fast-wearing tyres last year.

Cars would one stop and the tyres would last for hours and there would be virtually no overtaking. It may not be 'real' racing but it definitely makes for a much better spectacle.

what is "real racing" let us not forget why britain dominates F1 ,it was a response to the dominance of the manufactures ferrari, alpha ,renault ,mercedes etc and their powerful engines that were winning without exception

was that real racing?

britain has come to dominate the sport because of the so called "garagistas"and the development of aerodynamics and technology over raw engine speed where the manufacturers dominated

garagistas was a derogatory term the ferrari etc used to call our guys because they operated out of garages and garden sheds instead of the huge factories the manufacturers had

I think its more real racing now.

If you're quicker, you can get close - but you never could get past, as the "wake" off the back of the cars kept you off their gearbox. Slower cars stayed ahead of faster ones. That's not racing!

This way, a nudge of KERS and a DRS lets you get past. BUT if you're not really quicker, the car you just passed will close you back down, and do the same to you.

The new tyres, on the otherhand, do mean that everyone has a load of different phases when they can attack, when they must preserve, and when they must defend.

It does seem like its a bit tough to defend though. But that's for the tactics people to work out - which I'm SURE they will. Webber made an enormous statement today.

Kers is fine as all drivers can use this (RBR apart) ;) I just don't like drs if the driver behind is allowed to use it then the defending driver should be allowed more than one move on the straight.

Agree 100%. The teams had got so good at getting the absolute max out of the aerodynamics that any disruption caused mayhem. The changes have made it much better.

er er er the complaint was not enough overtaking not , not enough defending of overtaking opportunities

disagree as all you'd get is a driver swerving all over the road to keep someone behind. If a pass is just down to the DRS all that would happen is next lap the place would be swapped again. It takes away someof the negative impact on a cars aerodynamics when following someone.

That would be dangerous though, which is why they have that rule. You don't want to cars slamming into eachother at 200mph.

The whole point in DRS is to let people overtake and then prove they are actually the faster car - because if you're not, next lap, they will re-drs your ass.

:lol::lol:

Absolutely f***ing excellent race that. Great drive from Lewis, but Webber was OUTSTANDING.

Pity Di Resta was just outside points.

I loved that grand prix.

There was only about 10 seconds between the top 4 for much of the race, and all 5 legitimately held the lead at some point.

Amazing drives from both Webber and Hamilton, Hamilton getting past Button was particularly impressive since they were in the same car on the same strategy
