Chin up lads

It's definitely an age thing. My Dad said he wasn't even going to watch it.

I remember as a kid crying after going out to Argentina in 98, and being distraught after losing to Portugal on penalties in 04 and 06.

Last night, I didn't even feel any nerves when Kane stepped up to take the 2nd penalty. I'd already accepted in my mind that he was going to miss, you just knew he would.

England won't win a major tournament in any of our lifetimes as it's a mentality issue as much as anything else. Just can't handle the pressure.

Same old story, you get to the stage where you expect it. At least they played a well and gave themselves a chance, just like Sunderland I'll never see England win anything in my lifetime.
It's a shame so many seem they have to pin the blame though, win as a team and lose as one, as if Kane expected or wanted to miss the penna.

I'm gutted, and nowt makes it better, certainly not a f***ing championship game. We were better than France. Fuck it
Exactly mate. 👏👏👏
Aye been there done it bought the T shirt. No longer bothers me. Shouldn't bother anyone under the age of 18 really. Everyone else should know the deal by now
I'm still f***ing gutted

Get away man, EVERYONE would have put their mortgage on Kane scoring.

Monday is important to me. Ha'way the lads. I know people are different and international football is important to them. I respect that, and I'm most certainly not mocking it. However, for me it is Sunderland. Nowt else. Can't wait for Monday

In all seriousness, I am not sure how England winning the World Cup would have impacted my life. I was elated as they progressed through the tournament and deflated when they were knocked out. If they had gone on to win it then I suppose the elation would have lasted a couple of weeks longer.

With Sunderland it is entirely different. Elation and deflation come along match by match but something like the playoff final lasts indefinitely and has consequences for what division we are competing in the next season.

You can come back, all of you, with your heads held high.

I haven't watched the games (thank god I didn't have to have my guts wrenched inside out by the inevitable penalty disaster) but I have followed from a safe distance.

The doyen of the Catalan press - La Vanguardia - speak highly of England and how this game was the true final.

It seems that finally Southgate has found the best team - no complaints there.

Maybe the only thing England can do is for our scientists to find a way to genetically hardwire our players into the Croatian penalty taking DNA.
