A few of my mates are looking at going to Seaham and Chemical Beach, wheres best to park and whats the best way down? They are hoping to see the wheels but obviously that depends on the tide - if tides ok where are the wheels? Possibility that I may go depending on how my stomach feels.
Any info appreciated

I've never been down recently, last time was before Dawdon Colliery was demolished. If you travel south on the coast road past the traffic light and asda, where the road bares right to the roundabout take the left turn on the bend before the roundabout. I think you can park along there and walk down to the chemical beach. The beach is back to the left towards the docks.
Someone else with better directions may be along later.

Never heard of Chemical Beach before... doesn't sound like a nice place for a dip in the sea!

Think I know where you mean, Is there some statue or something with poetry on it near a car park up there?

Not sure as i've never been to that car park. The beach is the first beach after the pier on the south of the docks.

It was used as a slag tip from Dawdon Colliery back in the day. Looked like something from an alien planet. I'm sure it was considered for a scene out of alien 3.

Head for Nose's Point car park, drive in there and park up in the first set of parking bays you come to(this is right above chemical beach.)As you face the sea walk left and step over the barrier you'll see a footpath down the bank. You'll need to head down there and you'll come to some large boulders you can climb over. Then you're on the beach. If you want to see the wheels you'll need to go at mid/low tide.
Hope this helps ;)

The beach used in Alien 3 was further along, past Nose's Point, aka the blast beach.

I didn't realise that, always thought it was the chemical beach. I used to go fishing down the blast beach with my dad when I was a kid.

park at noses point car park,

then down the cliff path - mind you've got to scramble over the boulders at the bottom. can be a bit scary if it's been raining

or if it's low tide, go onto the blast beach, and come back on yourself. be careful

Cheers Hefty - Looks like Wednesday Night from 7pm - I reckon there will be a fair few tripods and 10 stoppers about!

might have a look down if I get finished from work early enough. oh, and if the tide is low enough, you can't miss the chaldron wheels....

The tide should be OK. Low tide is 5.02pm and high tide is 11.16pm.
Would have have come along but I'm away.
Did I tell anyone I will be in Corfu :lol:
