Chelsea banned from signing new players for next two transfer windows

Chelsea have been banned from signing new players in the next two transfer windows for breaching Fifa rules in relation to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

So if they sort it out then they should be allowed to sign players

The rectification is around administrative details, contract terms and the way Chelsea manage the processes. It they fail to revise their processes they could be subject to further penalties. The transfer ban won’t be lifted, it’s a punishment for actions over the last few years - so says some bloke on BBC radio.

How so? Plain reading would suggest they have to sort out the situation with the players concerned within 90 days then still do the punishment. Don't know if the rules have changed since, but Barcelona appealed, delaying the punishment, then signed a load of players to see them through.

If Chelsea can drag this out beyond this summer they should be fine. The Jan window isn't too important then they'd only feel any really pain in summer 2020, which they can prepare for.
