Chaos in airports

Just came in through Stansted a couple of days ago. It took two hours to get through. The main problem was those automatic passport/face recognition scanners. A lot of them were out of service, and others just plain didn't work. I am always directed (eventually after about 5 attempts) to the manual booths. The automatic machines don't recognise my face as being a face
Is this you mate?

What do they think your face is, then?

A big, veiny throbber of a cock?!?!

Hope it's sorted by July, I'm flying from London to Kuala Lumpur. It looks like it's going to take a while for the country to get back to normal after covid.

Manchester airport didn’t have the best of reputations before Covid but it’s lost any credibility that it had. Got rid of loads of staff instead of sticking them on furlough and struggling to get staff back. Sure I read it’s just over minimum wage, expected to work over allocated hours and strange work patterns like working early one morning then nights the next day.

It’s my local airport and I’m due to fly out there twice in next month or so. Mixed reports from people, some getting there 5 hours beforehand and having next to no queues and then other others waiting 2 or 3 hours.

Moved on to what? Better paying jobs?
My daughter moved to a worse paid job during lockdown and loves it.
Has gone from the Hospitality industry to a contact centre.
Dropped £5.5k a year but now works Mon-Fri and has every night off, has no responsibility and doesn’t get her days off cancelled because one of her staff rang in sick.
Many people have had their eyes opened to new opportunities and have taking the plunge due to Covid/Furlough shutdowns and in particular Hospitality.

I think when passenger numbers plummeted in 2020 and 2021 lots of related workers went and got different jobs
Would have thought furlough would have solved that problem. Can’t imagine airport security just laying people off. Sounds plausible tho. Schipol a nightmare too by the sounds of it.

Went through Schipol about 3 weeks ago and a 1h45m connection was tight. Big queues at passport control and, as another Brexit bonus, I can't use the machines any more because I need a stamp when I enter the Schengen zone. Going back tomorrow with a 45m connection. Not optimistic. On the bright side, I can live with a night in a hotel in Amsterdam while the family is still in Durham.

I’ll bet 😂 fantastic city on every level.

I loved my previous job even though it had flaws. I was part of a train emergency/recovery team, on call 24/7. I only had 15 days a year were I wasn’t expected to answer my phone. It was brutal and spat people out fast.

The reason I loved it was because the pay was phenomenal and i loved the excitement of the clean ups.
I was laid off about 2 months ago.

I since started a new job. Less pay, but Mon-Friday (5x 8 hour shifts) I can’t believe how little I have in my life outside of work. I love my current set up (it’s boring in comparison) and there’s no way I’ll be going back when they recall in the next few months

We flew through security at Manchester T2 in 15 minutes, once we got on the plane we had to sit on the runway for 90 minutes while they found somebody to put the bags on the plane.

Furlough didn't stop people finding other jobs. Someone with the security clearance to work at an airport is going to be an attractive person to hire.
