Channel 4 to create “national HQ” outside London

Would be great for something like this for durham sunderland. Agree that needs to be something direct from durham to sunderland. Even somewhere like darlington would be good for the region. Full of mags there like but would still attract people here

Salford and Birmingham are the Beeb's main outposts and both are central with easy road access.

Durham, Sunlun and Poocastle won't be in the running imo
Not true. The whole of BBC Sport is in Manchester, about the same journey time from London as Durham.
 
National transport links to Durham are excellent. Good train, two airports within 30 mins, A1M. Sunderland to Durham needs a new rapid transit link as I have repeatedly advocated on here.
They're not in reality though. One of the two airports has shit internal flights and is badly connected. The other you have to bypass Newcastle on one of the shittest bits if motorway outside of the m25. The metro is abysmal. Inside the North East if you don't drive you're pretty much fucked.

And the chances of channel 4 media luvvies moving to the North east are pretty close to zero.

Waste of time and money even proposing it.
