Centre Forward tomorrow

I suspect Speakman brought Rusyn in as a striker so there may be a difference in opinion between him and Mowbray. Probably the same as thinking Seelt would come in to CB when Batth left, but Tony's had other ideas again.
Looks like that mate regarding Rusyn.
I suppose time will tell , maybe signed him to play up front but then after bringing Burstow in we've shelved that idea.
...well we must have a bench full of stevie wonder's...

I suspect it's mainly work off the ball why Burstow is fancied over Hemir, he closes down much better as part of the team.

I also think Rusyn has just been eased in which is why we haven't seen him play up front, remember he's coming back from a small injury himself. I'm hopeful he'll get his chance either Saturday or Tuesday.

Just looks lost at times, Murty shouts at him to close down the keeper and defenders and he doesn't
Confidence must be shot. Came over , don't think he speaks much English. Been given the number 9 shirt (not sure how significant that is), played first few games and missed some big chances, took a bit stick off the fans and has struggled to get into the team since Burstow has arrived.

Now playing in the U21's when he's probably come over thinking he's going to be playing for the first team week in week out. I like the look of him and realise we need to be patient with him but wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to move back to Portugal come the end of the season...

We dont play a game for a forward. The number of runs he makes and looks to make but we'll rarely play the ball over the top and into channels for him to run onto. So regardless of who plays it won't change. His hold up play and him dropping deeper has been improving IMO, be nice for all 3 of the forwards to grab a goal. Would like to see us play a bit more direct at times, doing so means the defence have something else to think of, which can create space for the likes of Clarke and Roberts out wide

If it's that it's at the cost of never being a threat, because he isn't.

Played the 1st 60mins

Fully expect Burstow to start. Not sure that's the right thing tbh. He hasn't looked like scoring at all, he's not even missing chances.

Personally I'd start Hemir, at least he's got into positions to miss chances

Thoughts lads, lasses and other pronouns
Burstow looks a bit better doing the other stuff... linking up etc.

Not sure if that's just cos he's getting more minutes so you naturally see more of it, or if he's just a bit better at it.

Feels like it's been a while since I've seen Hemir get a chance (or get into the position for one) but I did think a goal was coming for him.

Maybe if you mixed the two you'd have something like a striker. It's a bit worrying that you still might not.

He might not have been much of a threat but our attack as a whole has been a threat with him in it, which is the most important thing.

It's still early days for all of them, you could make an argument that the best our attack has looked is when Dack and Jobe were our 2 furthest forward players.

It will be a threat without him as well imo. More of a threat with an added goal threat????

They're both young with time to improve, not writing either of them off.

Nor am I. Just at present, they're both coming up a bit short.

IF we're to develop one of them, you'd think we'd be best developing the one that's actually ours, but the lad from Chelsea's getting the nod. But he probably is offering a little bit more to the team, other than goals.

If Hemir could match Burstow's pressing and overall work rate, he'd start for me. Remarkable how many more chances and good positions he's found himself in with much less playing time.
His movement, positioning, touch and hold up play is streets ahead of Burstow just looks like he's going to be a bit kenwyne Jones about him unfortunately unplayable on his day when he fancies it, we are yet to see that from him yet

I just think Hemir doesn't fit neatly into the team yet because he's not mobile enough. Mind I did think similar of Ekwah, that he was lumbering about at first, taking heavy touches, next thing you know it just clicked and he was everywhere playing fantastically.

Wash ya mouth out lad.

I fuckin' wish either of them did have a bit Kenwyne Jones about them.

Tend to agree, I never knock a player after they have had only a few games, especially if they are young. Having said that, Burstow has had a bit of a run out and it has to be admitted not shown much.
Now last season after losing Stewart, and really having no substitute, several other players stepped up and scored goals. Again this season other players continue to score goals.
However, as was highlighted in the 2nd half against Boro, we do not have a striker/CF who can function as 'an out ball'. In that have balls played up to him, hold for a few seconds and bring on other players, also be good in the air.
Whether or not the new strikers we have brought in can do this role, I don't know.. but it is a glaring tactical miss.
