People hate Celtic and rangers because you don’t expect to go to games and see politics in the stands.
Two awful clubs. Nowt to do with Ireland.

I agree there is a lot to dislike about elements on both clubs.

My mrs is a Celtic fan and would clearly because of family and friends pick Celtic out of the two when watching.

Unlike Sunderland if Celtic lose an old firm title I'm not gutted.

Plus this place is funny as fuck when Rangers lose,as is twitter.

Twitter is full of pretend "loyal" rangers fans when it comes to the old firm and European games, most of which have never been to Ibrox in there lives

Yeah I see that, also seen the term "loyalist" used to describe a loyal fan and I personally think that's in poor taste.

Sectarianism is just biggotry and I have little time for those elements on both sides of the rivalry.

Did you enjoy yesterday as a neutral?

celtic was set up by irish migrants to scotland , is majority owned by an irish man and has a vast support base in ireland
Thought it was set up by a priest from Donegal to serve the catholic community.

Then taken over by bigoted fuckwits around the time of Irish independence and has stayed that way ever since. Rangers the opposite set of shithouses

Those two clubs sets of fans are arseholes

Amid the poverty, neglect and intolerance of Victorian Glasgow, one man had a dream to form a football club Glasgow Celtic. His dream flourished and now countless thousands share his vision of a football club that opens its doors to all.

He was born Andrew Kerins in Ballymote Co, Sligo , May 18, 1840, and ventured on the divine path by taking up the oath of the Marist Brotherhood...

And as thousands of Irish took flight from the deprivation in their homeland by sailing to Glasgow, Brother Walfrid was assigned to Sacred Heart School in the city´s East End to cater for their spiritual and educational needs.

He had already taught at nearby St Mary´s before moving to Sacred Heart in 1874 but by the time he had moved to London´s Spitalfields in 1892, the first buds of his vision had started to unfold.

The immigrants from Ireland soon realised that the streets of Glasgow were not paved with gold and not for the first time in Scottish history the ogre that is religious intolerance raised its ugly head.

Walfrid, therefore, had two main aims; feeding the newcomers who were finding employment difficult to attain AND integrate them into the mainstream of Scottish life where two religions were increasingly at loggerheads with each other.

Feeding the poor was a problem with a relatively straightforward answer - a charity drive. Knocking down the walls of religious intolerance however was a rather more thorny issue and one that was to present pitfalls on both sides of the divide.

We have Irish teams in Ireland. Would Irish people not be better following their own teams. It gets on my tits bit. Irish football is struggling yet Irish people are pumping money into British football. It's been proven that the League of Ireland is just as good as the SPL.

someone from donegal would in fact be an irish immiogrant in scotland but celtic was not set up by someone from donegal nor by a priest..rather a monk. . it was set up because catcholic boys couldnt join the protestant club...and the preiest worried they would lose their religion.
...so its origin was always about religion..thats not new, though i wish it went away.
yes you get fuck wit plastic paddies at celtic matches..but you get fuckwit fans at every type of games..i dont think the celtic fans are worse than the segment of chelsea fans glorifying abramavhichs crimes from the terraces at chelsea matches for example..or the fans who mock the hillsborough disatser when liverpool are in town

Sligo knocked out Motherwell. Apart from the Old Firm Irish clubs have done better than Scottish teams. In fairness it's not really Celtic fans I have an issue with, it's the Man Utd and Liverpool fans I have the problem with. They've jumped on the bandwagon. Armchair supporters who think having a Sky subscription is the same as having a season ticket.

It's like people from the North East supporting Bayern Munich or Real Madrid because the standard is better and they watch their games on TV. We are slowly been brainwashed to think football is a TV show. Even Sky's slogan is 'It's Only Live Once' which means it's on TV not at a stadium.
