CC: Durham v Kent

They would have needed 5.37 an over had we set them 300 to win.

Absolutely no point setting them 371. Especially when a defeat really doesn't matter to us.

Kent will be delighted they've stolen a draw.

i imagine they'll not, it guarantees them no chance of promotion now.

they'd probably have preferred a more sporting declaration

Positives - we've outplayed one of the better sides in Div 2. Onions and Weighell have earned themselves another year if finances allow. And we can look forward to a serious promotion push for 2018. Well done lads.

What did it have to do with luck today ?

i think there were arguably 3 main contributors - the umpires decisions yesterday to twice bring them off in not-bad-light, the extra 10 overs and 3 times in the last 7 or 8 overs misfielding billings to let him keep the strike for the next over

Can blame umpires as much as we want ( and they were poor ) but to bat on that length of time was ridiculous they wouldn't have scored the runs in another session

Was a little odd and had Wood been able to bowl more than a handful of overs we may have won. Good game and good to see a few players step up....

oh aye, woody may well have made a different, we really bowled rushy & bunny into the ground searching for those last few wickets

i agree, but they probably cost us 10-20 overs which would have given us a lead much quicker changing when the decision would have come and even had we set the same target had it been in far more overs would have given them a sniff of chasing it and us more time to get wickets.

tbh i can live with the result. after all the years of rob key being a dick and kent being a bogey side for us in the pjyama stuff not even giving them a chance of chasing successfully thereby killing their chance of promotion...:cool:

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Yes perhaps a declaration a tad earlier but they were so close to getting it spot on. Fine margins in sport.
