He'll always make mistakes, I don't like it and don't make excuses why it happens. I do though accept it will happen.

Two different things.
Can we afford to play someone who we all know is going to make these mistakes?

IF we stay up i would do everything within power to sign the lads we have on loan, alonso, ki, borini, ustari - this would probably use up our entire budget however and leave us with the same team as this year so the improvements would, once again, be based on who we could get in on loan.

How long does Ki have left on his Swansea contract?

I can remember a few occasions this season where he has shown vision none of our other midfielders have shown.

Even at Hull, where he imploded, he produced a great pass outwide after chesting it down. His long passing is very decent.

Canny trade off then.....a few Hollywood passes and a couple of "assists" for the opposition.

no idea, i think its only a year like but still, 4-5m for him probably minimum? alonso and ustari and add borini in and you're talking probably 15m for all four as a starting point maybe nearer 20m..

I think we have to tbh, he's simply better than the alternatives.

aye, i'll take a few bad mistakes a year and a some good games over pointing and whinging all game every game with a sprinkling of really shite set pieces.

Probably half of that would need to go on the fee for Borini, unless he's played through the middle I can't see him joining anyway.

Unless Short gets his cash out we are fucked.

aye, 5m say for ki, 1m for ustari, 1-2m for alonso [guess work obviously], 7.5-11m for borini makes 14-19m

that would be the budget blown, more loanees on the way[DOUBLEPOST=1395226331][/DOUBLEPOST]
There are other alternatives though.....

really? gardner no thank you. giaccherini no thank you. colback, probably on about a par with cattermole, i'd sooner have cattermole tbh. anyone i've forgotten?

Depressing.

I wonder how much Gus can generate and which players are done, if we stay up Fletcher and Jozy would be the first out of the door for me but, feck knows what we'd get for them...

How on earth has it come to this

He is very slow over the ground but his major fault is his speed of thought. He gets caught on the ball too often while he's trying to decide what to do with it and then gets rushed into making stupid errors. I can't see that changing.

comes to this every season tbf, because our scouts are shite we can very rarely unearth someone for ourselves, we go cap in hand to other clubs to develop their youths...

for what we would lose on the likes of fletcher, altidore, giaccherini i think i'd rather see us stick with them and try and get them back on at least a few cylinders, then we can either recoup some money or have a decent player on our books, they've all shown the glimpses - we know they have what it takes, just need them to buy in and repeatedly perform.

if we can retain our loans this time, bring in 2 or 3 quality loans again and actually get some contribution from the out of form likes of the three named above, more consistancy from johnson and maybe even devlopment from wickham/watmore/mavrias/whoever things don't look so bad.

we are underperforming massivly this year, if we can get this bunch to punch at their weight, not even above but at their weight we should be safe next year and from there reach the glorious goal of 'kicking on'

Think we look a far better side with catts in the team. Would have bridcutt doing holding role let catts and ki get forward and spray the ball about a bit. Catts has a good range of passing and think with these three in the team we have 3 players who will be involved for 90 mins unlike larsson or colback that like to go missing.

I meant long term......obviously we can only play what we have till May......we don't have to rely on players who occasionally do it but by and large let you down.

From what I've seen, Cattermole's long-range passing is better than Ki's.

I probably wouldn't disagree with that.

His volley with the outside of his boot against City was sublime.
