Catts

As Poyet said after Hull, you are far more likely to make high profile mistakes when you take responsibility and not hide. That is the difference between Cattermole and Colback.
He bottled a challenge and showed a total lack of awareness, his mistakes had nothing to do with taking responsibility.

I agree with this but for the first goal i think he mis-judged the flight more than bottled it. Once he'd made that error of judgement he didn't really have the option to bottle it as he knew he'd be off regardless.

I think his mistakes were in a large way a result of how tired he was after virtually taking the defensive job v hull entirely on his own , he was badly let down by a disinterested colback .
Gus should have subbed catts at half time especially with him having picked up a yellow card and bridcUtt on the bench.

I was making the point more generally and nor was I defending his errors against Hull. I have a little sympathy with him for the first given he had been unfairly booked and was caught in two minds on how to deal with the bouncing ball but the second was lack of awareness.

Cattermole, in general, will make more noticeable errors than Colback. That was my initial point. The reason for that is because Jack Colback more often than not will take the easy option whereas Cattermole will show for the ball in more dangerous areas, attempt more ambitious passes and will constantly want to be in the thick of the action.

I bet if you checked the miles they all covered there'd be nothing in it. This hiding would be highlighted in the stats. Colback just gets on with his job, he doesn't need to shout or wave his arms.

Colback played the best part of 70 f**king minutes against Hull with 9 men in the league and we actually looked more likely to pick up a point. He didn't hide that day.

Couple of those were tremendous passes, away to Swansea and at home to Liverpool.
To put it into perspective that's the same as bridcutt in 4 games.
I actually don't dislike catts just not sure he fits into the system Poyet wants to play and his wages will outweigh his contribution. I'd probably play him away from home
This season.

Are you his dad or something? he's f***ing anonymous for the most part man, like a ginger Tommy miller.

Clear cut chances? I can't remember one from Bridcutt.

Never knowingly met the lad.
I just don't think he hides, he's nearly always available for a pass.

There's only one player who doesn't hide but i think he avoids taking responsibility near the opposition box and that's Larsson. Ive witnessed him check back a few times, with and without the ball, to avoid the pointy end. That's the only time it's ever been noticeable to me.
Obviously, there's a big difference between hiding and having top defenders trying to deny a pass.

opta stats state cattermole is the only player in the entire premier league who still wears black boots. he's a throwback to the 70/80's but i'm ok with that.

Are you saying Colback doesn't check back?

I'm just talking what it says on there. Other midfielders ki 34, larsson 33, colback 13.
Key passes those. Can mean anything.[DOUBLEPOST=1395224008][/DOUBLEPOST]
We all do.....we accept the hugely negative side of him because he occasionally has very good games. I like him but if I was being honest I'd have to say you can't really build a team around him.
Accepting it and excusing it are 2 totally different things.
