His problem is, he's a yard too slow for this league and as a consequence is always chasing shadows. In truth, even his runs are more akin to trying to get the ball under control over 20 yards. Its quite worrying that he's our number one choice midfielder at the moment. Frankly, I think his best position would be to use him as a foil/spoiler for a decent footballing midfielder alongside, which we sadly don't have.
He isn't a premier league player full stop marra

At Premiership level it is a given that players are expected to have some degree of ability. After that it is all about mentality and attitude. This was Di Canio's main concern and which he felt pervaded the whole club top to bottom. He was right.

Cattermole hasn't learnt his lesson at all. He is just like Joey Barton but less gifted. He will not change as his problem is personality based. Like Barton he suppresses his natural hot-headedness but it cannot last. Ditto for drinkers, gamblers, cowards and so on.

The club needs to look at personality and attitude much more thoroughly than hitherto or we will continue signing idiots who let the club down and who are bad examples to all the younger players.

any chance you want to justify your stance instead of just hurling abuse?

because to me he looked like a player who could barely pass a football and totally failed to impose himself on the game, resulting in him getting wound up and doing something stupid. Again.

Show me the hurling abuse? It's my opinion that you must know nowt about football if you think Cattremole was 2 out of 10 before he was sent off.

Cattermole was trying hard to close down Huddlestone who was playing well. He broke up play several times. found a team mate several times and gave the ball away a couple of times. 2 out of 10?

He did a poor challenge, yellow but never a red. I assume you just don't like him as a player or know nowt?[DOUBLEPOST=1383413945][/DOUBLEPOST]
Keith, what are you on about?

Lad has form, check the history.

Is your stance that everyone is out of step except me.

Very foolish post there .

See above.

How can you stick up for this lad? He's lost it completely.

Not his biggest fan but I thought the red card was harsh.

An Everton player (I forget who) committed a very similar foul last week at Villa and got a yellow. Kamara on Goals on Sunday made a point of saying referees are being more lenient this season and not sending players off for tackles like that when they would have last season.

Cattermole's reputation went before him today.

On a forum for discussing football, about the worst thing you can say to try and discredit someone is surely 'you know nowt about football'

We can all see Cattermole COULD be a decent player. Unfortunately, after 3 decent games he reverted to type today. Played badly (which as far as Im concerned is losing the ball 'a couple of times' because he ISNT a creative player and he shouldn't be giving the ball away at all AND failing to win the midfield battle), got irritated, got himself sent off with a stupid challenge, and removed any chance we had of getting back into the game.

Cattermole is simply unprofessional. He takes the low % option too many times. Over a full season the odds rarely lie.

IMO the shape we played today meant we were outnumbered in centre midfield. Cattermole was trying to close down unlike Larsson who barely touched the ball 1st half! Cattermole never hides and didn't deserve to get sent off. I hope we appeal and show the Brady tackle (that the ref was very close too) as an example of why Cattermole should have received the same warning, a yellow card.

Sorry K. You are way out of touch.
Yes Cattermole is committed! yes Cattermole is a good player, yes he gives it all, yes he tries hard.

But.

Gets himself sent off way too often, no fcuking refs.fault shite, no use throwing out excuses.

You let yourself down with this crud.

Cattermole is no good, I say again ,no good to SAFC on these displays.

No doubt about that.

He gave the ref a chance to send him off and more importantly to me, even if it wasn't a red he gave the ref an opportunity to get it wrong.
It was a low percentage option to take. Good professionals don't take that bet.
totally agree with this post colback. been one of my mai arguements this evening
