Coleman: 'Lee Cattermole remains a crucial player for Sunderland'

“Catts never misses a training session,” said Coleman. “Apart from suspensions, he’s played every game. He comes in each day, shakes hands, says good morning, gets on with it. If he is lacking form, that will come back and will be super important to us.

“If you are at a club which has been involved in a lot of relegation battles, then that can take its toll for a little period, but you always come through it – he’s never been a problem for me at all.

“I took him off last week as he was on a booking and we were tired and down to ten men, one little tired challenge and it’s done. He’s going to be very important to the end of the season for us.”

Softening the blow for when he is dropped. Today may not be the day though due to player availability

Every player is for sale, it’s whether we get any offers for them that matters and we won’t be getting any for Lee Cattermole.

The dreaded vote of confidence.. heres hoping..

Being up for sale and actually leaving are two different issues. He won't move, he'll do a Rodwell and stay put, I doubt anyone will want him and certainly not with the wages he will ask for to compensate the remainder of his incredible contract, what a load of f***ing tripe.

We can only hope Boro go up, they might have a sniff if they do. Would be a good fit for them and him, assuming they would pay his wages mind.

Surely can’t have long left on their contracts tho? I’d just pay it if that’s the case then everyone has an opinion and mine is that catts and o shea have had too much too say for too long. These players that hounded di Canio out as they didn’t agree with his methods or whatever. As a manager you should have the backing to say if he’s not happy then sell him not sack the manager and let the players dictate what happens.
didnt catts sign a 5 year contract till 2021
