Agreed mate. He is trying to get championship standard players to play la liga football. Its all well and good having footballing philosophies but no point trying to play a system that is clearly not a match
They were shite at the long ball championship game under O'Neill, these twats cannot play any system, useless bastards.

We don't have the players for hoofball or counter attacking either. We are just a mish mash of shite
is sadly true

They aren't suited to counter attacking or long ball either.

Defensively we were ok under previous regimes with largely the same personnel. We have zero creativity hence the only thing we can offer is a pressing style of play and hope to capitalise on any mistakes. Thats all we have since we lost Sessegnon as there is no spark there now. Johnson perhaps occasionally. Flood the midfield and hope to force something.

As for the players not being suited to other styles, whatever styles they have played previously kept us up, this new 'style' has, obviously amongst other things contributed to taking us down, owing to mistakes it has seen us make

I agree but we stayed up

Anyone that wants him to stay for next season should be banned from here.

He's cost us too many points with his shite play and getting sent off all the time.

His discipline has improved considerably and he's not the only one to cost us points this season. Far from it.

However, he is not a PL footballer

He panics on the ball - as soon as he gets it, he wants rid, and his passing his shocking. The number of times he's passed it to a city player this half - not been robbed, but passed it - is shocking. He's only good for attempting to break up play, and he's too inconstant at that from game to game. He's a poor man's David Batty.

Interesting that you bring up Sessegnon, he has been a miss, not just for his creativity but he was strong and could look after the ball the best player we had at holding the ball up and giving the defence/midfield a rest or a chance to get back in position. Shocking decision to sell him and have no replacement.

You need good strikers to stay in this division, we've got none, end of story

And a reasonable defence who don't gift goals. We went through a spell if being quite solid but brown and o'shea in the back third of the season have been poor.

In a good side he would have time on the ball, unfortunately we are not a good side. I think Cattermole will go to a half decent side at the end of the season. If Benitez can see it there must be something there. Makes mistakes and too many, and best for all involved that he moves on.

Tidied.

We expect Cattermole to firstly want the ball, secondly control the ball, thirdly, quickly decide to either shield the ball or pass it on, and fourthly, then move into space and start from number one again.

He doesn't usually shy away from wanting the ball.

His control, especially under pressure is way below the standard of an average Premier League footballer.

I'm sure his decision making is good, but the fact that he so often fails to trap the ball, leads to panic. Passing is only average.

If he manages to get through the first three, the relief leaves him rooted to the spot!
