Gonna be pessimistic as fuck and say us.
Prepare for the worst.

Fucks sake. Have you seen our record against stoke? AND then factor in a shite Southampton team. We should be delighted at facing these two at home at this stage of the season.

Don't let the villa result cloud your judgement, we will be fine with plenty to spare.

Wigan and Norwich have winnable home games too so the Southampton game alone might not be enough. NUFC away to a (probably) disinterested QPR.

All ifs and buts mate. If we can get to 40 then at least one of the teams below us won't. They can't all step up to the plate and get what they need, surely one or two will fall short.

Pretty much my thinking. I am sure Wigan will go
into the last game with Villa on less than 40 points. Therefore if Chelsea beat Villa next week then 3 points is enough for us with our goal difference.

Just done the predictor. AGAIN.

Had Newcastle going down!

And me.
Took a pessimistic view of draws vs Stoke/Soton and a defeat at Spurs.
Had us staying up on GD from Norwich!!
Please can it just all be over!

It's very complex considering we go up to 11th. place with a 3-0 win on Monday! (mebbees )

I'm sure there must be fans of every other team looking at our fixtures wishing they were in our shoes.

Exactly this.

This board have been calling us relegation certs for about 6 months now, while barely even acknowledging Wigan as a possibility.

We have never been in the bottom 3, Wigan have never been out.

Did we not enter the bottom 3 for a very short time?! Possibly just before an evening game or something?

If not then I dreamt we did!!

Easy, I'll go for the team that'll be in the bottom 3 with 2 games to go.

A team that has an away game next and has a shocking away record.
Which has won none of their last 3 conceding 10 and scoring 1 goal.
Which has scored 2 goals in their last 7 games.

Final clue, they are the last NE team to be relegated and are shot to pieces :-D

Hard to call though because Stoke will be a horrible scrambled game with loads of fouls, cards and panic stricken football. If we win it will with one scrambled, lucky goal probably pinged in off the referee's whistle or Peter Crouch's boney arse.

The Saints game is likely to be better organised and more attractive from a football perspective. But we have no striker worth the name So we may get a draw but I cannot see a win for us.

Nine points to play for. I reckon that we will somehow scramble four. Because we are Sunderland it will be the tough way with an unexpected last minute own goal at Tottenham giving us the fourth point that we desparately need as Newcastle plunge Titanic-esque into the Championship.

You make a compelling argument.

I wouldn't fancy needing 3 points from their 2 fixtures.
