Car under 3500

The best Diesel engine ever fitted to a Vauxhall tbf, no surprise it went well for you.

Coming up to 100k will be due a belt if it has one, which iirc it does. They aren’t a patch on the 1.9 diesel, which is the one to go for, without a shadow of doubt, if you can find one.
Aye, my mate used to break cars until recently, used to get taxis in with 330k miles on, still running just age meant they could not be taxis anymore

97k full service history recent cam belt kit done
I was just about to say about the belt. Mines just over 100k I put a belt on it at 95k these engines will hit 300k+ if looked after. Clutch and dmf rattles look out for but overall a decent motor, should have all the toys being a titanium.

Alan Howat on YouTube swears by them, he maintains a taxi fleet of them most well into 300k. Oil change once a year and fuel filter when due and they will run forever.

A good watch this from someone who knows these inside out. A very knowledgeable man on the mondeo 2.0d.

Maybe stick a bottle of Dpf cleaner in before you go on a long run, but overall, as long as you are covering the miles the dpf on these is quite good.

I know but it’s just the thought of getting there and it’s shit and you have wasted a journey
Went to see one in Durham Monday described as excellent condition the driver side seat was ripped to fuck passenger side door wasn’t even aligned with the fender been nearly took off the hinges with the wind or hit by something
You need to get on the blower and tell them you'll be very disturbed if they misrepresent the vehicle . Plus its pointless from their point of view as you will just kick its tyres and fuck off without buying it .
If you look at enough you tend to know whats worth seeing and be willing to walk away with time wasted if its not what you want

Might not apply to that particular car but in the early days 2017ish I had dpf warnings whenever our lass had the car to use around the doors, now I put this in every 6 months or less never had a single problem and its mainly used around the doors now

Coincidence? Possibly but for the sake of £13 I'm gonna stick with it

got the train to worcester to reading to look at a volvo s60 sat around for hours waiting for it to be delivered(had to get a really early train as it was the day they discovered the problems with the cracked wheels lots of cancelations) ...wasnt happy with it when it eventually turned up........bought one the next day from Coventry ....much less arduous

My last two have neen from wigan and nottingham . I think nowt of going 100 miles + if it looks the business, youre going to have it years makes sense to travel to get the right one .
My last car was from Sunderland and I live 175 miles away … they drove it down to me.

Thanks mate

Dunno why folk on here are recommending diesels. 30p a litre more expensive, ridiculously more expensive to fix when they go wrong. I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole at the moment. 🫤

It’s a mindset thing. I’ve always had a diesel. Always bought a bmw msport one.
Changed to petrol as I’m not covering too many miles and it’s getting me 60mpg in eco.

If you are doing mega milage can’t beat a series one diesel imo but I’m learning that petrol ain’t too far behind mpg in modern cars and as you satiated, the fuel is cheaper.
As for boots, I’ve an msport 3 series tourer. The boot is like a hearse.
