Car under 3500

They are mental, agreed. I got a new Dacia Sandero early 2015 which was worth 6k. Gave it to the father in law last year and there's about 40000 miles on the clock, still would easily get 4k for it! Some are going towards 5k!

Showing no signs of easing.

My mate put a 10k deposit on a Range Rover. He then had second thoughts (he’s got a lot of money) but before he cancelled it they rang him and bought his deposit off him for 20k.
The car prices went up that much in the waiting time. Lucky fucker

That's absolutely crazy! Lucky bastard! 10 grand for nowt! 😂

Looks decent that how to you check if miles are genuine
tax is showing quite high like
How much mate ?

Kind of price bracket I’m going to looking at for my 17yo after Xmas, never sure what miles are too many these days, I’ve gone well into the 100k’s on company cars in the past. I’d like something under 60k but options look limited. Been a while since I’ve done the auto trader browsing, don’t think I’m looking forward to sorting the wheat from the chaff.

Nah. The dealer will check his ID and if he’s under the age of 65 will refuse to sell him one.
Had a jazz as a courtesy car and can see why old people buy them. Manual gearbox but think it was built by lego, proper clunky and proper boring car although very reliable apparently, prob because they never get abused.

Get insurance quotes first - might find a cheap car but insurance for a 17year old could be silly. I tried marmalade insurance for youngest but even they were not much cop, ended up shopping about but still paid a fair whack.

For 3,500 I’d recommend going for something like a Golf or if you want something a wee bit bigger an A4 or 3 Series. Modern versions of these cars are very expensive. It seems wise to go for much earlier ones. Like 12 years old or something. And baseline spec. Like SE. Don’t go for the sportier spec like S Line. That way you have a prestige name but without all the tinsel of a big price tag or in your face technology or fancy wheels.

Says £220 but its either a mistake or the tax didn't change until the the newer 2012-13 models. You could put the reg into mot check and it'll show you past milages

Full service and clearly looked after can mean more than low miles imo

Just test drove a jazz, 2012 plate only had 22k on it . Very poor performance for a little 1.4 . 50-70 very suspect
I believe later models are turbo'd up now .

Aye been looking at Suzuki alto Yaris is a decent corsa 2010 them golfs and Passats will Cost a fortune for tyres and that
Couple fiat pandas too

Would of took that it if wasn’t for the colour looks immaculate
Japanese cars are well built but you pay a premium on parts particularly exhausta ,cats etc as they age .
Fiat panda ,electric steering goes ,expensive .
You get a lot of car for your money it's those random costs that make or break the deal . Fords, Vauxhalls, vwag group cars etc are decent quality and bits readily available
Great car
Lot of bang for buck
It's all an odds game .
Top of my head ,clutch for that , £1500 ,main dealer part
Cat/ dpf £ 1500 easy ,same again ,dealers
If it has a warranty ,great or buy one of these private ones
They have conditions of course

What’s the Porsche Macan S like for reliability do you think?

Dunno mate there's loads of places these days, Facebook, gumtree, ebay, auto trader

I don't know why people are so adverse to doing things the traditional way.

People don't want to go out and make a morning of it. Go to a good dealership and take your time and browse. The best thing about getting my Fiesta is the going out and browsing.

For under 5k I think I would rather have a Z4 if you want a 2 seater sports car.

its very poor at the low end of the used market now. 6 years ago I bought a c class coupe for 1300 and a nice mini diesel 2008 for 3k. My celica was 1600 and now would sell for 3k. madness.

I bought my recent car last october for 7.5k and could sell it for 10 easy now its madness really
