Car stereo problem.

Hope someone can help . When I put a cd in a sign comes up saying "disc unreadable" old discs, new, all the same . I bought a cleaning disc ,with the little brushes on it but it has made no difference . Suggestions please . Will I need to but a new car ?

When you say old or new, are they original CDs or copies you've done on a computer?

If it's not working with new "proper" (not computer copied) CDs then it could actually be knackered completely.

You won't need a new car  and you can probably pick a new CD player/radio up pretty cheaply from Halfords or somewhere, but if it's a modern Merc it might be a bit of a clart on to swap it out for the new one. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself then I'd suggest taking it to your local Merc certified garage to have it done.

Easy to tell you went to a technical school . WTF is an air duster ?Would a hair dryer do the job ? I've tried a lens cleaner and it did nowt . Should I put some Vim on the brushes ?
An air duster is a pressurised air spray can that you get to clean your computer and key board . It comes with a narrow tube that you fit on to the nozzle so you can get the blast of air in to the machine.

And yes I went to Southmoor before it became a comprehensive school.
