We are getting a new car on tue, but not parting with the last car yet, what’s the best way to insure it? Whole new policy? Or multi car? We will be getting rid of the existing car in a month or so but we have an outstanding insurance claim on the existing car at present - somebody bumped it in a car park and we are waiting / hoping the other side will admit liability.

Not sure of the best way forward yet.

Get a drive away policy from the dealer. Avila do them for 28 days.

But I’d probably just go for a single car policy as there’ll be a fee for removing the second car.

Aye, I had two cars on a multicar with Admiral but was stuck with a higher premium than I could have got elsewhere when I removed one of them because they remove the discount.

Wouldn't be worth it if you're shifting one after a month.

How long is left on your old policy? Have you paid monthly and do you pay ten, eleven or twelve instalments?

The old policy runs to next year, paid in full, prob wouldn’t drive it.

IIRC, you can cancel policy and claim a refund on the remaining months.

You might get stung for no no claims on 2nd car as some don’t let you use your ncb on 2.
