Car battery power

I have to jump my car everyday now. It’s the 3rd battery in 6 months.

something is draining it while it’s parked but I can’t find anything obvious.
Is there any tips on what else I can do to locate it?

What is the make, model and age of your vehicle?

Do you have any other electrical problems?

Anything else not working?

Do you have any aftermarket electrical accessories fitted such as a tow bar, auxilliary lights or stereo?

Gone through three batteries

You would think the op would of consulted her husband at the first instance of none starting ;):D
 Expected this reply.

I put the issue down to the cold weather but it’s warmed up to -5 the last few weeks so it’s not that.

There’s no lights on and I can’t hear anything obvious.

Nothing aftermarket

It’s a Ford Expedition 2006. No other electrical faults but we had a rough winter so there’s been a lot of salt/grit dumped so maybe somethings corroded

Ah, you're not in UK?

Petrol or diesel?

Towbar fitted?

Petrol.
It has the tow set up but it’s never connected

Is the missus constantly charging her rampant rabbit?
 It’s a big beast of a car too so it would have to be some size rabbit

This! You just kept buying new batterys instead of finding the issue ffs
I blamed the bad winter.
Maybe buying a new battery every 2 months will be the best solution

I take it you have fooked the batteries up by letting them drain all the time ???

Have you got a multimeter to check what current your alternator is putting out ?

Check your earth connections,

Is there a light staying on, ie in the boot ?
Climb in the boot and close it over while in there to check.

Very difficult to diagnose from a distance but you shouldn't need to be buying a new battery every 5 minutes so here's a few things to check.

As Jazzman has said most new battery 'faults' are down to the failure of other components so first check that the battery supplied is of the correct capacity for your vehicle and operating temperatures.

Ideally you should take the car to a reliable garage with a good reputation for diagnostics/electrical faults. Hopefully they will do a diagnostic scan which will include checking alternator output and to check any spurious current drain.

A long shot, but I once had a Shogun/Pajero with the same symptoms and it turned out to be a wiring fault in the tow bar electrics caused by corrosion.

Very solid, reliable units are batteries. I bet most of the time it's down to lack of fault finding.

Correct.
