Capello looks like a man waiting for his last big pay off before retiring

Absolutely no chance of a new broom if The Ballbag gets the job. He's already put everyone on notice that Lamps would play until he's drawing a pension if he gets the job. Apparently the Golden Generation really are world class (despite the evidence of the last 10 years) and far superior to anything that Johnny Foreigner can put out. At least a Redknapp tenure would cause the gutter press to reappraise their estimates of the mans talents, I suppose.

Okay Cabbage( love the name) what I want to see is an Englishman in charge.
Maybe Rednapp would feck it up but I think he's the best English candidate.

I'm not basing my comments on last night alone. Have you forgot about his abject performance at the WC ?

Now there's the crux of the problem. It wasn't his abject performance, it was the players' abject performance. He doesn't cross the line, he doesn't kick the ball for them. More or less, the player sat the World Cup were the best available. And the supposed "stars" such as Terry, Rooney, Gerrard and Lamprd did f+ck all. Same as they did under previous managers. These are managers who have done elsewhere, so maybe the problem doesn't lie solely with the manager?
Last night, Capello took opportunity to give kdis a chance. Some performed better than others but only way for them to get better is to play in these games. Sometimes you learn more in defeat than you do in victory. Our humping at The Landfill seems to have taught us a few lessons, for example.
I don't think Capello is perfect but some of the xenophobic claptrap is pathetic, small-minded and embarrassing.

say what you want about the standard of players he has avaliable, he consistently makes bad decisions regarding selection, has england playing awful football and doesnt seem to be able to motivate at all. should have been sacked after that shit at the world cup too. whos bright idea was it to take the clause out of his contract allowing him to be sacked should england fail?

Aye, that'll probably end up as his defining moment as England manager. Germany go 3-1 up, with just over 20 minutes to go. Let's get Heskey on!!! Oh, Germany have scored again.

it was the monnt our world cup ended (if it ever began)

utterly ludicrus

As someone else has mentioned his ability to motivate is very questionable. His tactics are too.
I'm referring to his performance at the WC here.
IIRC the WC squad were in uproar about him weren't they ?
You can blame the players if you want but it is up to the manager to get the best out of them is it not ?
The buck stops with him.
I am not xenophobic either, if there is a foreign manager/coach out there who can take us forward then I say go for him, but believe me, I think we've been shown the grass isn't greener and after a couple of big name foreign coaches have failed, I would like to see an Englishman have a go.

In terms of achievements I'd agree. However, he'd achieve as much (more accurately as little) as the rest of them.
