Capello looks like a man waiting for his last big pay off before retiring

f***ing useless he is.

He doesnt seem to have a plan for blooding players in or developing a team, from 1 game to the next he just throws players in, his tactics for a so called tactician are a joke. God knows why the fa think he's better than an english manager.

Jagielka right back - rubbish he's a centre half.

Why do we player wingers on the wrong wings?

Kieran Gibbs and Lescott dont get thier game for the clubs but can for the national side?

Barry should never play again hes crap.

f***ing idiot makes Brucey look like Mourinho

Should have got rid after the WC. No confidence in his ability to develop the national side into something even half decent.

He really looks like he doesnt have a clue there seems no logic to his methods. Rather than blloding youngsters in and developing a team he just throws different players in left right and centre.

He looks like he doesnt care and would love to get sacked and walk off with the massive compo. Only the english FA would give him a contract before the world cup.

i agree. what does he care? he is going through the motions, letting teams and squads being picked by media.

he then comes out looking totally bemused with what is happening, on the field and in the interviews.

£6 million well invested FA

only in england can we reward failure

I agree with most of your feelings.

During the World Cup anyone criticising Capello, over things like Heskey, was ridiculed by people who claimed we didn't understand the game.
I did believe that bringing on a nailed-on non-scoring forward to score 3 goals in 20 minutes probably won't work.

Now Capello's playing people out of position, using weird tactics and dishing out caps to players like Bothroyd.

Presumably he believes this makes him appear to be deep thinking and inovative ......... to me it looks like a man wanting out.

I am thinking this now tbh, for someone of his managerial record some of his decisions are baffling tbh

I dont think its because he is not English but he only cares about qualifying for 2012 and thats all, he knows with the players we have we have no chance of winning it. He wont be bothered about giving youth a chance cos he wont be around to get the benifits. This would go for any English manager to imo, they all only care about there own legiaces, Redknapp would be the same

The whole culture of English football needs to change, from the grassroots to the fans and the media's attitudes. It could take a decade or two if not more to fix but nobody at the top cares cos they wont be around to see it and get the plaudits.

Would love a Roy Hodgson or someone of that mould to be put in charge of changing the grassroots system of the game

He even came out saying he's leaving after the Euro's, thats a good way to show your commitment to the players.

England will be lucky to qualify with him in charge. Dare I say id prefer Mclaren

I genuinely thought he would be an excellent England manager when he first took over, but he has gradually slipped into the Eriksson style of letting players' reputations count more than performances.

After (perhaps even during) the World Cup, he seems to have simply given up on getting an England team to play with any kind of tactical nous, and reverted to the frankly embarrassing 'stick a big lad up front and boot the ball in his general direction as soon as you can' technique which has always served us so well in the past.

Agree he now looks as if he's just muddling by, with no clear direction.

I agree the full system needs looking at but its also important to have a good, committed man in charge who is looking to build a team which will be successful over the next 4-8 years, he's already said he's leaving in 2 years. Look at the difference Blancs making for France in comparrison to a few months back. A good manager makes a big difference.

I do think we have a few talanted youngsters coming through still to build a team for the next world cup. We should be starting now by getting a man in charge to see it through. Use the Euro's as part of the development process to build a good team (we not going to win anyway) aiming for success at the next world cup.

brazil in 2014. not a chance in a million years, that england will win there.

i will parade bollock naked for a week in concord if they do.

i will also provide sickness tablets for those who catch a glimpse

I agree Andy. He talks of doing the right thing....well the right thing was for him to resign after the WC.
Everytime the camera was on him last night, I couldn't help think....what is he doing managing us ?
It's time for an Englishman to take charge. We've tried the foreigners and found the grass isn't greener on the other side.
Give it to Rednapp is what I say.

You should be careful with statements like that after the "If we get a win at Stamford Bridge" thread... :)

Or maybe people are making him the convenient scapegoat for fact that players aren't very good and are tactically naive? It was a friendly game against a good team and he gave some kids a chance. Not end of the world.
If anyone thinks that Good Old 'arry is going to provide a majic fix to the problems, they are deluded. But hey, he's English, isn't he? And that's all we need - a bit of "passion".....

i can see where the above is coming from but haway, nearly all the teams who failed at the world cup, either sacked or had their managers resign.

england in their wisdom, increase his pay, prior to the tournament, so that when the inevitable failure came, could not afford to get rid of him.

i dont blame capello for signing that contract and milking it for all its worth.

no different to erikkson on that front but he really should have done the decent thing and resigned.

the moment he brought heskey on in the world cup against germany (we needed a goal so he grings on someone who hasnt scored in years) he lost all credibilty

get rid

He was fooled into taking the job without realising the lack of tactical awareness and technique in English football, and the blind and often monumentally stupid press and supporters. He fell for all the 'golden generation' bluster.

The only chance he had was after South Africa when he should have gotten rid of 95% of the squad he took and started from scratch.

I remember shaking my head in disbelief at that decision.

I'm not basing my comments on last night alone. Have you forgot about his abject performance at the WC ?
None of us can say how Rednapp would perform, but like the OP said, Capello's heart isn't in it, he's going through the motions to pick up his ridiculous salary.

Absolutely no chance of a new broom if The Ballbag gets the job. He's already put everyone on notice that Lamps would play until he's drawing a pension if he gets the job. Apparently the Golden Generation really are world class (despite the evidence of the last 10 years) and far superior to anything that Johnny Foreigner can put out. At least a Redknapp tenure would cause the gutter press to reappraise their estimates of the mans talents, I suppose.
