Can we put the pitch-forks away now?

This place has been a pure lynch-mob for weeks now, it’s horrible to read and enough is enough already.

The way everyone has turned on Speakman and KLD so quickly is crazy.

Speakman is human, humans make mistakes. Much in the same way Jermaine Defoe won’t score with every shot he takes, Speakman won’t get every move he makes right either.

Overall I’d say he’s done a good job here. Under his stewardship we have swapped McFadzeon for Cirkin, Pritchard for Maguire, Stewart for Wyke, we got a replacement for Burge which I didn’t personally think was necessary but each to their own, the new signing Clark looks class and Matete looks decent. In fact almost every player we have signed seems to be an improvement on the player they have replaced. The club seems to have a structure now with a good scouting networks, and on the whole the football has been a lot more enjoyable to watch than under Jurassic Parkinson and Jack Ross.

Alright he’s fucked up letting too many defenders go at once, and something has definitely happened behind the scenes with Lee Johnson being sacked. But be honest now, were any of you that are calling for Speakman head now, not calling for Johnson’s head before he was sacked?

I kind of understood it when peoples knives were out for Stewart, but wanting KLD and Speakman out baffles me.

I just think we need to move away from the toxic atmosphere and try to support our team. Mistakes have happened, that’s life, dust yourself off and go again.

Anyway, come at me bed-wetters
Not sure many have been calling for KLD's head like. Speakman has been incompetent and deserves every bit of stick he's received.

f***ing hell. Another one clapping the players into the conference.
No I took the decision this time that I’m going to boo every second of Alex Neil’s stewardship so that when he eventually gets sacked as all of our managers do, I can say I was the first to see him for what he was.

True supporter me. Only want what’s best for the club, which means calling them shit and telling anyone who will listen how shit they are. Can’t wait to come on here when Neil’s sacked and tell you all I told you so 😎

I think what most people want is a bit of transparency and honesty about ownership. The continued presence of Methven is never going to gelp We could do with some explanation of the squad's lack of balance - how many wingers can we play? The return of Defoe is an interesting one. I hope he does well but I am not sure that a 39 year old striker who has hardly played really makes the squad so much stronger. Matete looks a decent signing The dismissal of Johnson was not as they described unless they really had no succession plan. The 'owner' getting carried away with Keane social media a mistake. The lack of communication from the club, in particular the shameful announcement of Neil and the lack of moral support in public for Dodds and Proctor. There are questions about the injury levels at the club. Neil's immediate assessment of worn out players is telling. "The Project" only works if there is an effective short term plan, it is essential that we get out of this division. Sure, some people have gone over the top but there are serious questions for Speakman and Dreyfus. If Keane had become manager they would have been everywhere but now they are invisible.
I honestly don’t get your points , why do we need clarity about ownership ? That’s nowt to do with the fans and doesn’t interest me in the slightest. What was “shameful” about Neil’s appointment ?, what “moral support” did Dodds and partner need ? Why should the owner/owners be “visible ? Why should the club have to explain “ the balance “ to anyone ?

Listen to our new managers interview after the 1-1 at Wimbledon. For the record I have been mainly happy with our signings but Alex Neil absolutely nailed it for me at the weekend. We do not have enough experience and the young lads need a rest.

Do you really want someone like Methven running our club? He has been openly insulting about fansxand the region. Neil's appointment was announced hours after everyone knew. Why not just do it in the morning and accord him a bit of respect. Dodds and Proctor were out of their depth and Speakman should have supported them more We support our club and it is very frustrating seeing the same mistakes on the pitch all of the time. You and I have a difference of opinion, fair enough.

Why does someone have to be to blame? Sometimes shit just happens.
During our time down we’re we have replaced the clubs owners, manager 3 times and with all their back room staff and the academy’s staff, and all playing staff apart from McGeady and Gooch.
So is it McGeady and Gooches fault? the fans fault? the Kitmans fault? the chef at the academy of lights fault perhaps?

This constant search for a perpetrator just doesn’t help anyone
So no one's to blame and the fanbase just lap up the club going down the toilet?

I don’t think you are telling the truth here mind

My problem with Speakman at the minute is that the errors he’s made with the squad balance this month are very, very poor. Going into the crucial part of the season with Defoe being the only back up to Stewart while we’re still waiting for Broadhead to come back from injury just isn’t good enough really. Yes everyone makes mistakes but not glaringly obvious ones like he has.

If we had a few less injuries then they would have had their rest, and we would have had a bit more experience on the pitch in the first team too (McGeady, O’Nein)
You can’t legislate for player injuries can you? I certainly would blame a director of football for it.

I think the owner has showed his inexperience, his appointed DoF is clearly on a learning curve and people are angry at what is developing into another wasted season.

KLD and Speakman might have the right intentions but they need to learn fast. This is not some sort of work experience gig and the pressure is now on. I don't think we should apologise for that. Sunderland in League One is a big challenge and they can either cope with that or they can't.

This is not Marseille in Ligue 1 or Birmingham in the Championship. This is Sunderland in League f***ing One!

Hoffman, cirkin, batth, Doyle, Winchester, Evans, dajaku and Stewart.

They made up 8 of our starting 11, in the worst and most embarrassing defeat in the history of this football club. I’m not saying they are all duds, Stewart is fantastic most of the time and some of the others are good players.

That doesn’t detract from the fact that 8 out of 11 players signed by Speakman and his data model made up our most embarrassing day in almost 150 years since we became a club.

He is the director of football, so oversees a huge part of this football club. No matter which way you dress it up, in any line of work in any line of business in the world, if one of the top bosses of the origination makes fatal errors which prove this costly, the 100% deserve to be questioned and criticised. In the vast majority of businesses a day that dreadful would lead to heads rolling.

Dress it up how you want, but this is league one. The whole data and signing players who are on the cusp, who haven’t quite reached potential, or are injury prone, or who have great potential, means we lack some huge elements in what should be an easy league to get out of for a club like us.

Leadership, experience and heart is severely lacking in a squad that he’s built. If you want to give the man credit for replacing worse players with better ones, how can he not take criticism when things go wrong.

It’s not “bed wetting” these are cold hard facts. For the last 5 years anyone who dares question anything gets given the title of bed wetter. Let’s be honest here, as things stand the concern is not misplaced. The concern has proved correct and we as a club are looking at 5 season in the pits of English football.

It’s not bed wetting, it’s facing facts, and questioning what is ultimately a failing and sinking ship season after season.

Serious question, when can we question, when can we raise issues, when can we actually stand up and face facts that it isn’t rosy, it’s pathetic.

Why have we only won about 1 game in 10? It’s either Johnson’s fault (who was speakman’s choice) or it’s the players who are too inexperienced and not good enough (who were speakman’s fault) So you see it’s speakman’s fault 👍

I don’t know. Every year we go on about injuries as if no one else ever gets them.

Pitchforks are bloody.

I'd settle for a town center pond with dunking trebouchet.

Inaugural dunkee... salmon pants.

He can be 100% innocent in any wrongdoing, but he should still be dunked IMO for being a massive twat.

Was Johnson Speakmans choice? Wasn’t Johnson interviewing for his job at the same time Speakman interviewed for his?

Anyone using the term bed wetter when the club is looking at a fifth season in League One will obviously accept any old shite that's served up. Speakman's objective is promotion, he can't be surprised if he's binned come May if he's failed. Very refreshing that Neil effectively hoyed him under the bus at the very first opportunity.
Although by far the most important objective to us fans, he has other ones that he has been more successful in. Reducing wages, lowering age of squad, building a scouting network, setting up the data stuff, signing players with re-sale potential (We had none at one point) and probably some other stuff I've forgotten.

So I think it's reasonable to question the balance of the squad, but most were happy with it a few weeks back. Now after this run and some hindsight, all of a sudden it's a fuck up. I also thought it was worth rolling the dice sacking LJ. It didn't work out but it could have given us a boost, it hasn't but we were looking at play-offs anyway.

So the medium and long term look to be moving in the right direction, but the short term has gone a bit wrong. I think he's doing ok on the whole but obviously not getting promoted would be a black mark.

Re the Flanagan transfer. I know he's left us short, but I think it's feasible that Shrewsbury demanded an answer before we had our man tied up (kokomo or whatevever he's called.) He may have thought that we can only sign new man if Flanagan leaves so sold him. Then new man's deal falls through, he then tried to get others (Peterboro cb and others I think)

His gamble did backfire, but he obviously thought other things would happen, which would have been an upgrade. Blocking Flanagan's move would have prevented that upgrade.

We let Flanagan and Younger go and didn't get a back up for Stewart. That has nothing to do with injuries.
