After 37 years of following SAFC IMHO we rarely play well in front of a piss poor crowd.

I wasn't there and haven't read the reports yet but I blame,
1) Playing 4-5-1 against a supposedly inferior team.
2) Mignolet hoofing the ball up to their centre-backs all match and conceding possession.
(My two pet hates - was I right?)
It was the fault of one person in the crowd-That stubborn Irish bloke in front of the Sunderland dug-out.
No we can't blame the crowd.
Doesn't take away from the fact that the crowd was terrible and like the player's our fans could not be arsed.

Differnce is most in the crowd wont be on thousands a week to turn up at the sol.
I have ran all of the different potential reasons for our shit performance through my super computer and it tells me that it was Danny Graham's fault

Never seen you about this season mate
A chant of "Haway Haway Haway Haway Haway" would always go up at Roker if things went quiet and it would kick the crowd off ( I've done it meself) if anybody did that at the plastic palace some fucker would complain to a steward and they'd get hoyed out
Don't often play well in front of a large one either tbf
i'll say it again, forget about how bad the team were, the crowd last night didn't show enough passion to deserve a cup run. sitting in total silence just isn't good enough.
summed up in a nutshell.

I remember one match, I think it was against York in the second division, we were getting beat one nowt and playing shite, the atmosphere was totally dead. Monty turned to the Fulwell raised his hands and said "haway".summed up in a nutshell.
the crowd last night wasn't pathetic because of the numbers, in the circumstances the attendance figure wasn't bad.
the crowd last night was pathetic because it never once got behind our team and only broke silence to moan at our own players.
forget about chanting, the background noise at the match last night was f**king pitiful. people either genuinely don't know, or have forgotten how to support a sunderland side.

The reponse was instant and within minutes the ground was bouncing, we ended up drawing ones apeice and that was down to Monty getting the crowd going (he'd probably have been booked and hoyed out of the ground these days)
